Whoa Nelly! Dead at 89, RIP http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...gendary-broadcaster-keith-jackson-dies-age-89
Dang had not heard. My favorite all time sportscaster. I always felt you would get the same converstaion with him whether he was behind the mic or in your living room watching the game with you. "A Rumblin' and a Stumblin'"
The unique sound of his voice defined college football. We've lost a broadcasting legend. Prayers to his family.
Wow - a legend passes. Keith Jackson was one of the very best. RIP Mr. Jackson, you will be missed. Dang am I feeling old
A true great. The "voice of college football." He broadcast what might be the greatest single moment in Gator history-- the 1997 Sugar Bowl win over SOW for our first NC. I was at the game, but watched and listened later because I recorded the game. I had the chance to say hello to him after the SEC Championship Game that year because he was on the flight to Miami with Bob Griese. They were going to play golf.
I'll always be glad he was in the booth for our first national championship. Great to hear him calling it whenever I watch it again. Thanks for the memories, Hoss.
Thee voice of college football for me. "Whoa Nelly, and We got us a barn burner" and all of his trademark sayings that only he could get away with saying. He was the man RIP. Trivia....he was the narrator for "The Bullwinkle and Rocky" cartoon series, one of my faves as a kid. That alone would make his passing sad for me.
He was the quintessential American, college football announcer... R.I.P. Mr. Jackson... you will be missed.
Gonna miss ole Keith. CFB has never been the same since he put down his mic. I remember he called our 1997 Championship Game against Rape-SU. Called hard-hitting game between big-name teams "slobber-knockers", always using his infectious "Whoa Nellie!" expression, and as much as I hate to say it, he could call a Bama touchdown with authority by saying "Touchdown Al-a-Bama!". He made watching CFB on t.v. FUN. God Speed Keith, you will always be remembered and will never be duplicated.
I liked hearing him call Oooooooooooooklahoma and Ne-BRASSS-ka, especially when Jarrrrvis Rrrrredwine was playing.
Keith Jackson WAS college football. Truly one of the all time greats. Mount Rushmore. Born in Roopville Georgia. Served in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Jackson was credited with nicknaming the Rose Bowl as "The Grandaddy of them All" and Michigan Stadium as "The Big House". Everybody loved to imitate him. Nobody hated him. Thanks Keith. We'll miss you. A LOT. God bless. Say hello to Pat Summerall for me. RIP. https://sports.yahoo.com/iconic-college-football-announcer-keith-jackson-dies-160933683.html
He was the real deal... It does kind of make you feel old. I remember when he officially retired. Seems like a decade ago now. Class act, for sure. The best! Go Gators.
