so my question is: why didn't the coaches have more confidence in Murphy? who is evaluating practices with the QB's?...and since Jeff has had so little poise and " deer in the headlights " moments, last year included...why wasn't Murph given more looks and some time in the Miami game??

and, it makes you wonder what other talent is hiding??

They're not ready ok!!?! Jeez what doesn't everyone understand?? All the talent on this team is not ready to compete and score!! They're ready to block that's about it, so that's what they'll do!

Maybe Tyler is simply a GAMER. "Practice"? You don't know until you're on stage, JD never looked comf. TM looked comf.
Plus, KNOWING TM was the back up, why not give him some seasoning series last year (more than the few he had. he hadn't completed a pass til yesterday). Might have seen he was a gamer then.

No, he's saying he's not ready to come up with a meaningful contribution to this thread.

Basketball is unique. There's no difference between practice and a real game except for intensity and adrenaline. In football, you don't go all out at practice or you wouldn't have a team to suit up for the game. That's why football has gamers and basketball does not.

    1) It was a joke.

    2) Iverson's point still stands, if you watch his full tirade.

    1. They have said all year they had confidence in Murphy

    2. I dont think Jeff had the deer in the headlights look vs Miami. We were playing a better football team and a whole bunch of people on our team were making mistakes. No reason to bench Jeff after one bad int. You wanted to put Murphy in while we were winning football games last year?

does the second string qb get to practice much with the first team offensive line?

that might at least explain the first murphy fumble, where it was clear that the qb and center were not on the same page

that should be corrected this week

Murphy should have played last year, our offense was a complete joke at times. Jacoby had no business going in before Murphy last year, none. People make mistakes it's ok to admit it.

Why was it a compete joke though? I cant say Murphy should have gone in before Jacoby maybe he wasnt ready then and maybe he is ready now. I am not saying we shouldn't have played Murphy but people are going crazy over 1 game vs UT. Glad Tyler played well but slow down

I am not going crazy over Murphy, pleasantly surprised maybe, but not crazy. I believe it was jax st that jacoby started, jax st. We looked awful, I have a hard time Murphy would not have done significantly better judging by what I saw against tenn... I think that's fair to surmise.

These second guessing threads are ludicrous. You have seen three quarters of Murphy. There is no telling what will happen with a full game plan facing a defense prepped for him. Could be great, could be terrible, but don't delude yourselves into thinking that somehow Murphy outplayed Driskel in practices and the staff was obviously too benighted to see it.

Do you think it was Jacoby or the other players? I tend to think we give QB's too much credit and too much blame

I think it was probably both, but qb is the head of the snake, does not mean the body is not important, just that the head leads..
