    Jason Lieser ‏@PBPjasonlieser 46s
UF coach Will Muschamp says he'll open up the punter & kicker positions this week. Not happy at all with Kyle Christy & Austin Hardin.

    Bryan Holt ‏@Bryan_Holt 5m
Will Muschamp places blame squarely on Kyle Christy: 'We didn't forget how to coach Kyle from last year." #Florida

The plan was to red shirt Johnny Townsend to create some class separation

I think Christy will turn things around; Hardin I am not sure about. With the style of football we play, not being able kick field goals consistently could be our doom.

I think Christy will be fine, but I'm not sure Hardin is our best option. When you are regularly missing FG's outside of 35 yards, it might be time for a switch. We need someone who hits at least 70% in that 35-45 range.

Good. The FG miss was especially bad. Although Hardin's kickoffs have been solid.

Both players will respond! Christy got very sloppy when he dropped a good snap and Hardin can be very good.....he's just not Sturgis folks!

This team, just like last season, has a small margin of error. Without great kicking, we wouldn't have won 11 games last year. These guys need to produce.

I wonder if Oregon worries about their kickers?

Why doesn't Muschamp call out his offensive players?

Because he knows what hes doing, unlike those of us on a message board?

This dazzling post was sent via my Samsung Galaxy Tablet using jet packs custom built for Gator Country.

Ummmm, yes. Lost to Stanford last year on a missed kick. Two years ago I think it was to USC the same way.

Hardin had no problem drilling the band while he was practicing during the half. If he wants to douche it up, fine, but you better be good too.

I'm not a Ducks fan like you are. Can you tell me if they threw both kickers under the bus and opened competitions midseason?

We have played 3 games out of 12. 1/4. 1/4*2=1/2. We need to play twice as many games to get to midseason

I think you're right, but I am more concerned with the way Christy has been punting than with the one dropped snap (which I assume will be an isolated occurance).

Even on that last punt. I know the idea was just get the punt off quickly, but I was looking forward to a lot of time running off the clock since UT had no one deep...maybe leave only enough time for one play (I was thinking I hope our guys remember not to down the ball before it stops rolling) - and then the punt goes out of bounds

Threw them under the bus? What are you taking about? If you're not performing your going to get benched.

I don't remember Kelly's response to the missed kicks but when you miss a 30 yard FG that costs you a shot at the NC and two FG in a game the next year that again cost you a shot at the NC it serves to illustrate the importance of the position; especially with an offense like ours.

Field goal kicking scares me. I know I was spoiled but our window for error now is even smaller. Can't depend on him. That field goal he missed would have iced the game. If the game comes down to a field goal we better hope that God is indeed a gator.

Maybe that had something to do with the UF band consistently playing during offensive huddles for some unknown reason. To that point, many of our fans haven't received the message about shutting the f' up while the we are on offense. Our QB should be able to whisper calls when at home. But enough about that, on to the kicking problems...

... there has to be someone on campus who can kick a ball through the uprights?

    Not necessarily.

What if the #2 his MILES behind the #1 all year?

College teams don't have viable #2 options at every position every year.

This seems to be even more true at K and P, b/c teams do not want to use 3 schollies at each of those positions.

If you judge by the number of walk-on kickers that have won starting jobs at UF and other schools over the years, many schools often find themselves back to square one if their #1 kicker ends up not doing the job.
