I wanted to hook up my surround sound to the PS4, but my system doesn't support hdmi. It only supports component. And the ps4 is strictly hdmi or optical. Guess I'm screwed a little.

Any work-a-rounds, or should I just buy a new receiver? My receiver is one of those cheaper $300 dollar in the box setups. Bet I find a good one at a pawn shop for cheap. Lol

If you convert HDMI to Component you may have handshake issues due to HDCP. You may also have a loss of quality. The best bet would be to buy a receiver at www.accessories4less.com

Your TV will likely have better sound output options.. ps4-> TV -> receiver a little backwords, but mines got component stereo out. (obviously not actually surround)

If you actually want the 7.1 or 9.1 many games are created with, a new receiver is in your future. I'm not much of an audiophile these days and don't even know how many audio channels hdmi can support, but I assume many...

If your receiver doesn't even have optical, I'd just buy a new one with hdmi.
