how would you rate the two teams in the matchup this weekend in Sunlife stadium? on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being 'best'):

Offense: I think the canes are better, Gators 5, Canes 7
Running Game: Gators 7, Canes 7
Passing Game: Gators 3, Canes 7

Defense: Gators are probably better even if we're replacing a lot, Gators 7, Canes 4
I knocked the gators down a pt or two due to the new players, upped the canes a pt from last year's squad just from experience.
Run Defense: Gators 8, Canes 4
Pass Defense: Gators 6, Canes 5 - will our aerial attack make the canes' D look better?

Special Teams: Gators 5, Canes 7, new kicker for the gators drops us down; coverage and punting we're a bit better, imo. Canes may have a few homerun hitters though in the return game. we don't have an established one.

Intangibles/Coaching: Gators 5, Canes 5 don't think there's going to be all that much of a homefield advantage, especially at noon.

    Overall: Gators 22, Canes 23

lolwut? We have one of the best secondaries in the nation and we have a much better pass rush than last year.

    I'd go

    Offense- Gators 6 Miami 7
    Run- Gators 8, Miami 7
    Pass, Gators 4, Miami 7

Our offense isn't flashy but we control the game with it.

    Defense- Gators 8, Miami 4
    Run D- Gators 7, Miami 4
    Pass D- Gators 10, Miami 4

ST is a toss up, our kicker doesn't look sad but we make up for it in punting (Although Christy played bad against Toledo). We are definitely missing Debose on kick off returns but I think Roberson did a pretty damn good job returning.

Overall we have an edge and will wear them down as long as we prevent Duke's explosive plays.

who gets the nod looking at the coaching staff? Muschamp or Golden? probably should bump Will and staff up, in retrospect. what we did in the SEC last year is/was good compared to a run thru the acc.

I think the Gators demonstrated against Toledo that the pass defense is stronger than a "6", even in Purifoy's absence.

I think you're right; but i'm still collecting data on all the new players back there. do the same against Miami's personnel and scheme that we did vs the rockets and I may bump that rating to a 10!

I stopped at running game. You rate the undersized 1 move Duke Johnson even with all our firepower. Duke plays badly against real talent for a reason. He's way undersized and has only one move. This game won't be as close as the last one when our FG help UM more than we will ever know?

We don't have a better passing game than Miami. Running game is debatable.

    Ratings?

    Relevance:
    Gators 1
    Canes 0

    That's all that matters.

Hard to say after only one game. As a program I think UF is way ahead now - talent, coaching, depth, toughness...

    The ACC is so weak...

I watched UM play FAU and I don't know if I saw any players on UM who would start for us.
Saw some speed but lines looked avg.

I got a glimpse of real leadership on our team and I think we have chemistry.

We are going to go into their house and make a sandwich with mayo.

    Offense

It's almost an unspoken truth that Miami (or really anyone) has a better offense than Florida, but I think we're probably close to even. Last year I'd concede, but our offense is better this year (despite the shoe-gazing grumps) and I'm not convinced of Miami's. For example:

vs Kansas State, 13 pts, 260 yards
    vs ND, 3pts, 280 yards
vs FSU, 20 pts, 260 yards

They stacked their stats with bottom of the barrel ACC opponents. That said, we're still playing a fairly conservative brand of football, so I don't see us putting up 500 yards on them or anything and they will be throwing it quite a bit.

    Advantage: Even

    Defense

Not even a question here. We have a very real SEC defense. They gave up 490 yards per game last year.

    Advantage: Florida, big time

    Special Teams

I frankly don't know enough about either Miami's special teams nor ours (based on one game), but I also think it fairly unlikely that it will have a huge impact on the game either way. It should be decided before the start of the 4th quarter.

Can you name somebody on Miami that would supplant a current starter for UF? I can't.

    Serious?

Their QB just won the Manning passing camp, and their receivers are better. Duke Johnson would start over Valdez Showers.

Their oline is supposed to be good but I like our guys, but a Miami fan would take their guys, one of those sort of things.

On defense though, I don't think they have anyone who would start for UF.

Check out Stephen Morris' stats and then look at the ones against teams with a pulse on defense. Honestly, not that impressive.

Valdez Showers isn't a starter, so I'm not sure I follow that point.

Same applies to Duke Johnson, actually:

6 rushes, 19 yards versus Kansas State
8 rushes, 22 yards versus Notre Dame
9 rushes, 27 yards versus FSU

They didn't play any defenses last year. You don't think Matt Jones would have bested those numbers?
