How many hundreds of congressional hearings do we need to have on other topics to consider them fully explored?

Probably fewer if we didn't have an administration willfully flouting subpoenas and any attempt to scrutinize its actions at all.

You could save time and energy if you just typed "but Bush" instead of simply implying it behind lengthier text.

How can something that has already been thrown out by the state and federal court be picking up steam? I mean, I know you guys aren't paying attention, but the reports are playing games with verb tenses so you don't realize this is a dead issue.

And to add to my previous post, not only did this information come to light due to a document dump, the dump was requested by a conservative group, because the Dem prosecutor is being sued in civil court for his actions during the John Doe investigation, and the presiding judge had allowed the case to move forward on merit.

But the mainstream media (Wapo, NYT) is moving on the reports as though this is new information. Look for retractions and clarifications today.

Would not hold my breath for anything resembling an apology or retraction but if so, retractions and clarifications will be on page 62 in font size 6.5. If you have a magnifying glass and know where it is, you may find it.

Hook line and sinker. Walker was on this morning and said the case was thrown out, a state judge and federal judge has already dismissed this, and this was a document dump of crap that he was accused of.

Switch to Morning Joe, and the foaming mouth libtards are talking about this like there would be charges forthcoming.

People wonder why Fox News is successful. Walker told the truth and stated facts. Morning Joe wallowed in innuendo and led the listener to the conclusion this was new evidence and Walker could face charges by this new revelation.

You have to admit that Barnicle and Haperin said it was "confusing", but these guys should have known the case had been adjudicated and so should Joe .I wonder if they'll revisit it on Monday and come clean

The left is completely in the dark on most issues.
Watch some of the panel shows and the left appears completely ignorant of the issues.
Bob beckel, big time liberal and Juan Williams lib, both regulars on Fox, have no answer for anything. Beckel seems like a fool, Juan Williams does show sign s of the issues, but he is totally biased.

Well, when you want to know what liberals are thinking, best place to turn to is a Fox News panel show. Nobody could argue with you there.

Well, it's admittedly on life support, but the prosecutors have appealed the judge's decision and if the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals agrees with them the investigation could rise from the ashes. So I wouldn't say the issue is entirely dead at this point.

Exactly right and I'm glad you posted this. It was thrown out of court not just once but twice. But those who have such a hatred of Gov. Walker will continue, especially now that some have speculated he may try and seek the Republication nomination for President in 2016.

    from the article:

JUNE 20, 2014 By Gabriel Malor

I’m going to tell you a true story, and then tell you how the news media is covering it.

This is a true story: in 2012, Democratic district attorneys in Wisconsin launched a secret probe known as a John Doe investigation with the goal of proving that conservative groups illegally coordinated activities during Gov. Scott Walker’s recall election. They issued more than 100 subpoenas, demanded the private information of conservatives and conservative groups, and actually conducted secret raids. And under state law, individuals who were targeted or witness to the investigation were forbidden from making knowledge of it public.

    ^^^also from the article:

Fortunately, judges saw right through this partisan abuse of power. Early this year, a state judge, ruling in a secret proceeding, quashed the subpoenas and all but ended the investigation. According to the judge, “the subpoenas do not show probable cause that the moving parties committed any violations of the campaign finance laws.” This started the unraveling of the John Doe investigation that had many conservatives fearing they would be targeted for subpoenas and raids next.

In February, a conservative activist and group filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the partisan district attorneys who had pursued the John Doe probe. In short order, a federal district court judge held that the plaintiffs “are likely to succeed on their claim that the defendants‘ investigation violates their rights under the First Amendment, such that the investigation was commenced and conducted ―without a reasonable expectation of obtaining a valid conviction.” In other words, at this early stage of the civil rights litigation, it looks to the judge as if the Democratic district attorneys abused their power and chilled conservatives’ free speech rights. Accordingly, the federal judge ordered that the John Doe probe must cease, all the seized property be returned, and all copies of materials be destroyed.

After a short trip to a federal appeals court, the federal judge reissued his order that the John Doe probe cease. Most recently, that appeals court has ordered some of the previously secret probe documents disclosed to the public, including an unsuccessful defense that the John Doe investigators made to one of their secret subpoenas. In their attempt to get a subpoena, which was rejected by a judge for lacking probable cause, the partisan investigators claimed that Walker was involved in the so-called conservative conspiracy.

And that is where the litigation stands as of today. Having launched a secret probe that has now been shut down by both the state and federal courts, the Democratic district attorneys find themselves the subject of an ongoing civil rights lawsuit for infringing the First Amendment rights of conservatives. But that is not how the media have reported the case.

    From another source:

Homes raided, subpoenas issued targeting conservative groups and allies of Scott Walker
    November 18, 2013 | Joe Schoffstall - 2,582 Comments

In Wisconsin, dozens of conservative groups and allies of Gov. Scott Walker are undergoing political intimidation from the left at the hands of a special prosecutor.

Subpoenas have been issued demanding correspondence and donor information of right-leaning organizations and individuals and raids have been conducted resulting in law enforcement officers taking computers and files in a secret investigation, according to reports.

“In recent weeks, special prosecutor Francis Schmitz has hit dozens of conservative groups with subpoenas demanding documents related to the 2011 and 2012 campaigns to recall Governor Walker and state legislative leaders,” the Wall Street Journal writes.

It continues, “Copies of two subpoenas we’ve seen demand ‘all memoranda, email . . . correspondence, and communications’ both internally and between the subpoena target and some 29 conservative groups, including Wisconsin and national nonprofits, political vendors and party committees. The groups include the League of American Voters, Wisconsin Family Action, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, Americans for Prosperity—Wisconsin, American Crossroads, the Republican Governors Association, Friends of Scott Walker and the Republican Party of Wisconsin.”

    ...

Eric O’ Keefe, director of Wisconsin’s Club For Growth and one of the groups being targeted, said that he knows of at least three of the targets who have had their homes raided. During the raids, law enforcement officers confiscated computers and files. A person with knowledge of the search warrants said they came at the requests of a man named Dean Nickel.

    ...

“This is a taxpayer-funded, opposition-research campaign,” one source said. “This is not a question of what conservatives did wrong. It’s a question of one party in this state using prosecutorial powers to conduct a one-sided investigation into conservatives.

Investigators are spying on people and using the power of government to collect records,” said another source with knowledge of the occurrences.
