I've just learned from my wife that my son is being formally presented to our church as an altar boy at the 5:00PM mass on Saturday, November 30th, and there are no acceptable circumstances under which I cannot be there, short of hospitalization or death (and I'm very proud of him, after all his hard work - which involved 10 training masses at 6:30AM on weekdays).

So, regrettably, I cannot attend the Florida State game, which I was otherwise going to grimly do with the same attitude of a prisoner being marched down death row to the gas chamber.

Thanks, God. That's one more this kid owes you.

I'm sure God is not planning to attend the game, either.

Although my underlying statement is 100% true, and while I did experience I sense of wistful relief upon finding this out, yes - I'm trying to inject some humor into some otherwise angry and grim threads.

Humor is much appreciated these days. Of course, if Winston throws the ball in Gainesville the way he threw the ball in the first half against Miami (high and wobbly), then this ball game could be a lot more interesting that 99% of GC thinks that it can be.

Yeah God doesn't go to the swamp anymore, He left town when SOS left, Steven even said so the other night when somehow the spurs pulled the upset over Mizzou.

I found it funny..so thanks Litigator.

the biblical descriptions of God say He is among other things omnipresent and sovereign over even small details of all of our lives. So by that, He is in the Swamp even when Saints Daniel, Timothy and Steven are not playing or coaching. It also would follow that He cares about outcomes, but in ways that serve His purposes not any school or player.

Not trying to get the thread moved...just food for thought

I wasn't taking a shot at Meyer, I was actually referring to the statement that Spurrier said the other night after the Mizzou game, mixed with a little sarcasm. And I would actually be the last one to claim that God wasn't at a certain place, regardless of where it was.

He is omnipresent . He is in the Swamp even when Saints Daniel, Timothy and Steven are not playing or coaching.

Tho I do honor and respect your boldness. Because He is omnipresent which does mean He is in the swamp, I'm a little confused to why you added daniel ( old treatment) Timothy, and steven( both New Testament people) to get your point across when it's all about Jesus. Daniel, Tim and Steven all worshiped and served Jesus and would be absolutely nothing without Him. If you took Jesus out of the equation what would there lives look like? Just my food for thought.
    Sry couldn't not say something
: but On that note go gators! And go Jesus!
