Monday Feb, 10th at 8:30am I will be having my neck fused together.

Many of you will remember me and I just wanted to say hi and let you know what's going on with me.

I've been in pain for years, finally I will no longer be in pain, well about 3-4 weeks after the surgery lol

I'm not a religious person, but I would love for those who are to keep me in their thoughts and Prayers to whatever god or higher power they choose.

    Thank you,

    Ian Demler

PIM 3-4 weeks is way over estimating post operative discomfort for this surgery. A little over ten years ago I had the
5-6 cervical vertabrae fused with a titanium coil inserted. Pain, expect less than a week. After that there will be the inconvience of wearing a neck brace for about two months but no pain. You should have immediate relief of the chronic pain you have had and that in itself is a blessing.
Good luck with the surgery and I hope you get similar results.

Prayers for you and hope this surgery eases your pain.

For different reasons, I had cervical fusions lower in my back and 2 rod inserts. The after effects? No problems since and really good posture!

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery!

I know a couple of people that have had a similar surgery with good success, however not everyone. Sometimes fixing one problem creates another.

I had a similar neck fusion a couple of years ago after suffering with a pinched nerve/herniated disc, shoulder discomfort and resulting headaches. Was driving after a less than a week and went skiing after a month (against docs recommendation). I still had limited neck motion but was fine skiing easy. Sitting in the airplane was miserable tho. Did lots of PT afterword to regain range of motion. No pinched nerve pain. Unfortunately, contrary to what the surgeon said the surgery did not solve my headache problems and even created a new one... neck discomfort/pain. Love that new tempurpedic bed tho.

    Best of luck!
