Announces next Friday. Still looks like BYU, but Gators are one of his 4 finalists along with BYU, Ohio State and Virginia.

Yeah, I got a tweet saying this late last week. Over on 247 all the crystal ball guesses say BYU. Did he ever visit UF?

Apparently, Dastrup is doing his Mormon mission the next two years. So even though he is a 2014 signee, he may not be coming to a school until 2016.

Dastrup did an unofficial visit along with his father to a game that I attended last season. It was obvious at the game that he was having a great time both during and after the game.

By the way, if you check out the video on Dastrup, he plays just like Kevin Love. The kid is a tremendous rebounder and passer, with a nice scoring touch on top of that.

Doesnt sound very promising from the interview I read but I would certainly be happy to get him even though he would not be around until 2016.

Sure does sound like BYU, but he did say that UF had the best coaching staff of his 4 finalists, and we put our big men into the NBA. He also left open the door for not heading off right away on his mission.

It's good for Mormans to hang with other Mormans.

To me it is very interesting how strongly religious belief influences humans. An excellent book on the topic is Dawkin's "The God Delusion." Now, Dawkins is a blind materialist, but he is very insightful and knowledgable, thus, his writings are both highly informative and very interesting. Out of Africa is perhaps best, but this delusion is exceedingly interesting and perceptive regarding the very underlying nature of human beings.

Jabari Parker is a Mormon, and he is attending Duke. Does anyone really think that Dastrop will be better off going to BYU than to Ohio State or UF?

You're approaching hopeless. Too much LSD back in the '60's, old man?

Maybe Dawkins has better books, but I read that for a grad class years ago and it was neither insightful, nor knowledgeable. Just an invective against those whom he has dedicated himself to ridiculing. There are plenty of sociologists of religion or ethnographers who deal with religious subject matter (Eliade's Sacred and Profane is still probably the best) better than Dawkins. Then again, more insightful, academic treatments like theirs requires us to rethink the traditional definition of religion as simply what American defines as meriting 501c3 status, so I suspect Dawkins would have neither time for nor interest in them.

Folks, let's keep the politics, religion, philosophy and the like out of the forum please.

    Thanks,
