Patric Young continues to detail pre-draft process: This account includes a tale of Scottie Wilbekin nearly setting a Knicks record in a drill ... then paying the price. (Patric Young, Only Gators)

Florida has hills to climb to win track titles: Basically, Florida's going to contend for both trophies in Eugene, but isn't the favorite for either one. (John Auka, Track & Field News | Jack Pfeifer, Track & Field News)

Growl I think you mis-linked that first one...it says there's an article about Young getting ready for the draft and something about Wilbekin too, but the link goes to a preseason article about Young from last year. Can you fix? Am interested to read the story about Scottie.

Geez, never mind. The article is found on the site "onlygators dot com" but evidently this forum has an automatic switcheroo program that turns onlygators into gatorcountry. You're on your own, folks. Good article, though!

I'd really love for an administrator to explain the reasoning behind this. Onlygators is not a competing pay site, they operate strictly on donations. I just don't understand why we can't share that stuff here

Hope he gets drafted. Getting late in the draft. Really deserves to. Would feel really bad if he doesn't.

Word was he had a great combine. The lowest I saw him projected was 46th. Right now it looks like a fair bet he'll go undrafted. Sucks. He's an awesome player and an even better person. He deserves to hear his name called.

Some of these guys being drafted over Young from Europe really stinks. They may never play in the league. Thought the Knicks would take him, but they took some guy I never heard of from the D League. Then, maybe the Heat (Florida connection), but they went with someone from Xavier.

Guess he's going un-drafted. Disappointing. Can definitely help a team for 10-15 minutes a game off the bench.

It's really better to be undrafted than to go late second. The contracts are the same but you get to pick your team instead.

His lack of rebounding for someone of his size has to be troubling to NBA teams. I think we're again seeing Gator fan optimism.

I did not know that. That makes me feel a little better. But feel bad for PY nonetheless. Gotta sting for him tonight a little.

Hmmm, must be similar to expert optimism because he was picked to be drafted in virtually every mock draft I saw.

Gator fan optimism is a rather redundant term anyway, isn't it? If you're not optimistic about your program, then you're not really a fan (fanatic)... more of an interested observer.

It is frustrating, but going undrafted isn't the worst thing in the world. Both Young and Wilbekin can pick a team that offers them a little guaranteed cash and an opportunity to win a roster spot in the summer league and in camp.

Being taken with a late 2nd round draft pick is almost a curse, as it means only one team has your rights and can sign you, but they don't HAVE to sign you or give you any guaranteed money. Much better to be an undrafted FA and work out for multiple teams who have room and money. He really looked impressive in the pre-draft workouts and had surprisingly good measurables. He will certainly stick with someone.

We shall see, but didn't see any of this year's guys being NBA type players.

I disagree. Pat, his agent, family and friends were all very confident he would be drafted ... With much positive feedback coming from the Spurs. I saw many draft boards predicting his name would be called. PY gathered at a local restaurant last night with a ton of family and friends. I feel badly for the kid.

The Pelicans picked him up for the summer.
