Sorry not buying the waiting for a bowl game to finish scenario... If Foley and Muschamp have the guy then they offer and he takes and leaves his old gig pronto. Maybe they don't have one guy and would like to actually interview some candidates who knows but don't see them waiting.

If they hire Helton we might as well fire Muschamp right now. Helton is nothing more than a failed former Memphis OC who was not impressive at USC either.

Remember that Mike Norvell is playing in the Pac-12 Championship, I believe.

Heard him on DP today and the dude seems genuinely humbled (not sure he is human if not). That said, good offensive mind, good recruiter. IMO, his next job is his last chance and I really don't expect any shenanigans at all, but a guy coaching for his coaching life. I agree. Once you get past the obvious surface stuff, it could actually be a really good hire. Then again, maybe he is that self-destructive of a personality.

I can't believe that any true Gator would want Lane Kiffin associated in any way with the University of Florida. It would be a disgrace and an insult to our reputation. I don't care how good of a recruiter or OC he would be.

Just curious. Have you watched a Memphis Tigers football game in the last 15 to 20 years? Seriously? I have seen them on tv and in person numerous times. They are one of the top 5 worst teams in any division of college football the last 20 years. They are a basketball school and do not give a rats ass about football. They had two 7-5 teams in CUSA for Gods sake and went to bowl games and they couldn't put 20k in the stadium. They recruit 1 and 2 star guys that Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and Ole Miss don't want.

You cannot judge an assistant coach on anything he did at a place like Memphis. Esp. if he was at Memphis when Tommy West was the head coach. Throw out anything that happened at Memphis and judge him on his stops before and after Memphis.

Thanks. I wasn't sure what a "true" Gator would do.

Ok sorry. Delete "true." Didn't mean to insult anyone's Gatorness.

I can see a scenario where reporters were told after bowl season but it will come before that. My guess is they already know who they are going to hire. Muschamp is a planner.

I would hope CWM is going all Sun Tzu with the full court smoke-screen, jet packs and alleged flight plans to Boise, Whitefish, Nogales, and Key West as he works the rolodex like a rich, fat sweaty guy in an Amsterdam bordello.

I remember when Weis was hired, most fans were thrilled. UF got an experienced guy with a serious track record of successful offense. He was also seen as an complement to Muschamp, who was a new head coach and needed a mentor type who had been a head coach. Moreover, because Weis flamed out at ND, people weren't worried about him leaving to become a head coach. Seemed perfect. Then is offense sucked and he got hired away after one year. So, let's be honest, it's all a crapshoot and most of us have no idea who will be good or bad.

Unethical? You think there's a lot of ethics involved in recruiting behind closed doors?

Of course, I do. For instance, bribing recruits with the promise of money or sex would fall into the realm of unethical. I'll bet there's even an organization that makes rules about what you can and can't do behind those closed doors with said recruits.
