Do you think that Muschamp would hire Kiffin without Foley's approval? Do you think that Foley would approve the hiring of Kiffin? Do you think Foley would want Layla around? Wait...

Two weeks? That would be the fastest score weve had on offense in a while.;)

If the hire isn't coming until after Bowl season then Muschamp has his sights on currently employed coaches. Hopefully he'll have the deal in place and the announcement can be made immediately after the game so we can get things moving. We're not in a position where we can afford to slack in recruiting.

Again, no where did I state that expediency takes precedence to hiring the right person. Clearly that is priority number one. We're also clearly missing play makers on offense so it won't do to drag this out for too long or we'll just make the new OC's job thatmuch harder. We have some dynamic recruits that will want to know who the OC is before enrolling January.

I only think one of the recruits cares about the OC and according to him he is making his final decision before we name the OC anyways

I really don't think we are going to hold off making an announcement until January, that is far too much time to elapse for this recruiting season. There is no need to wait until after bowl games are over, coaches get hired all the time during the bowl season.

Dead period starts on the Dec 16th and ends on Jan 15th honestly holding off really wont hurt much

Recruits can still contact coaches if I remember correctly, right?

And if we're waiting, does that mean maybe we've got someone of note that's in a decent bowl game?

It still makes a difference. I would imagine the preference is for the new OC to talk the recruits before the dead period rather than have them sit around til the middle of January.

If they are really unsure or the only person they want insists on holding until after bowls that is fine, but we don't have to wait to hire someone just because they are coaching still.

they can but a week or two difference in knowing who the OC is not going to change much. We are really only talking about a few player being impacted. Muschamp will keep them informed

This may be true, but I think recruits obviously love to talk to and have visits from the HC. If Muschamp shows up to a recruits house and ensures him that the offense will cater to his strengths, then I think that's all he needs to know. I doubt all recruits are that familiar with all of our finalists any way.

Coaches can call you too. There is just no in person recruiting going on.

I don't. Seems to me Kiffen is the type of person who would press Muschamp's buttons.

I think it could mean we're still choosing between OCs that have jobs is all.

Is there a reason the Baylor OC would see moving to UF as a step up?

I agree and I am not overly concerned about. I just doubt it takes until after the bowl game to get an announcement, it is fairly common for coordinators and assistants to take other jobs while they are still coaching for bowl games. The only real reasons for waiting is not having a candidate or your candidate insists on having nothing announced.
