    The guy is clearly a master of painting but I have to admit that I prefer the Renaissance-era religious paintings to stuff like this. There was just so much more symbolism and meaning hidden behind things.

    The light effects he used look a bit like they belong on the cover of a sci-fi novel. I'll agree with Tim that the subtlety of Renaissance and early Reformation religious art is more appealing to me.
