Excuse me for tooting my own horn but today was a good day. Back in April I decided I was going to lose 100 lbs before I retire 5 years from April 1st. Somehow in 7 months I am halfway there. On April 8th my personal doctor had me at 267lbs, on April 25th my Cardioligist weighed me in at 272lbs so I don't know exactly what my maximum weight was but this morning I weighed in at 215.

I'm not sure if 170 is a realistic goal because in high school I wrestled in the 167lb weight class and I was pretty lean at the time, but that's my goal.

I wrestled at 105 lbs in HS. Slightly more than that now. :)

We had the most bad ass 105 pounder on the planet on our team. Our coach every now and then in practice would match up a bigger guy with a little guy just for kicks, I would much rather wrestle our heavy weight than that little guy. What coach would do is wait until you were tired then put you in there with a small guy to embarrass you. Warren made me look silly more than once.

I am off tobacco too. I'll be honest tho I have just switched to the electronic cigaretts but completely quiting will have to wait until the weight loss is over. Both at one time would be tough. My doctor said the other day the electronic cigaretts are a 100% improvement over the real thing.

Doc cut my colesterol & diabetes medications in half last week. My colesterol was under 100 and my blood sugar was normal. When I had my first heart attack in 1985 my colesterol was over 300.

good move on the cigs, the E version helps with the habit but no nicotine, tar & other sh1t in your lungs starts the rebound almost immediately - keep at it you are really doing well. I quit cigs and alcohol the same night in 78, had one night off the wagon since, my docs say it is why i am still around :)

Had to lose myself as the weight makes other bad things happen to you. Good job 51, I know I feel better now that I am lighter. Bet you do also which makes it easier to keep up the good work.

If you lift, muscle is heavier than fat, so use the mirror, not the scale.

Congrats 51!!! Great Job! It is encouraging to me too. This time three years ago I was about 260 but at just over 10% body fat. I've been as light as 250 but I just looked too skinny to me for my build and height. Well, now after three years of live in girlfriend being fat and happy, I am tipping the scales at about 315. I will be 39 in May and was worried about how hard it would be to get the weight back off. Hearing that you you have dropped that much, and I know you're just a coupla years senior to me... Makes me optimistic that I can get beck down to where I need to be. SO congrats, keep it up and Thank you!

That is awesome. From someone that needs to lose more than a few pounds myself, that is encouraging. Congratulations and keep it up!

Brought this back to the top because I didn't want to lose it. I hadn't planed on updating untill I fell below 200 but the weight loss has slowed tremendously in the last 3 weeks and it may take me a while. Anyway I weighed in at 202 last night which is sort of a benchmark for me, it is what I weighed when I graduated from UF 35+ years ago. Also it brings my total weight loss to 70 lbs.

I've added a little light strength training to my regiment but have had to take it very easy due to a couple of shoulder injuries. I got stupid the first time I decided to strength train and wanted to see how many push ups I could do. I droped down without warming up (not a good idea for a 62 year old) and pulled a muscle in my right shoulder and neck on the very first one. It took over a month for it to fully heal, then no sooner than I got over that I took a fall at work and really messed up my left shoulder. It has been 2 weeks and I haven't seen any improvement in a week so I fear I am going to have to see a doctor. I hope my bosses followed up when I reported it. I told them I didn't think I needed to see a doctor but I wanted them to put in a report just in case since I took a hell of a hit when I hit the ground.

Now that's funny, I am suprised anybody still remembers the widow next door, that was a long time ago. She moved out years ago. LOL if she had the hots for me when I was fat I guess I would have to fight her off now.

PS: Mrs51 never read the widow next door threads, let's keep this quiet.
