According to this article, The Big Ten will sanction womens lacrosse as a sport
and the Big Ten members will leave the American Lacrosse Conference. I expect that means the end of the conference. Guess we go independent? Edit: The link is to an Ohio State board. Click the "northwestern"
link in the thread to get the article. Sorry.

Perhaps not the indy route. The ALC has three members leaving. As I recall the breakup of the Big East will leave 2 or 3 women's teams homeless. On the lax board there was some speculation of a revised ALC.

I went "surfing" to find more info. Not much in a short search. Couple things ....

Apparently, last summer, Johns Hopkins anounced they would be leaving the ALC in a couple of years to compete as an independent .... like their men's team.

I don't know what happened with this, but South Carolina was accepted for membership in the ALC, but has never activated their program.

Did you check the forums on laxpower.com? There was a thread there about possibilities not too long ago.

    That is correct:

    http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-lacros/spec-rel/060313aah.html

Big Ten competition in both sports will feature Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers, with Johns Hopkins participating in men's lacrosse and Northwestern competing in women's lacrosse. Big Ten rules allow for a conference championship when six institutions sponsor a program in any given sport.
