Right, but we didn't have all of our starters.

I'm optimistic that Muschamp will turn this around. I mean look at FSU. Jimbo Fisher a first year head coach at FSU has them in a NC. Prior to the season the program seemed to be in disarray because coaches were jumping off the ship like rats. Jimbo had to replace 7 coaches including their Offensive Coordinator and this year they are undefeated with all 7 of those new coaches. I think we will be fine next year.

They were reportedly even worse off than we were.

I'm just saying that if we have all of our starters including Driskel, Debose, and Jones then no way we lose that game.

I would argue that very few of us have put in any meaningful work beyond financial contributions. I would also think that message board posts rank well below a 4-8 season, 3 years ranked below 100 on offense, a revolving door at OC, and the perception that the coach is on the "hot seat" in terms of effecting current players and recruits.

The fact that people are actually on this message board would put them in a very high percentile of "real" fans IMO. That all being said I think the vast majority of posters always want the best for the program and are excited about the return of football season. I know I am, here's to a great 2014!

And we lost to Ga. Southern at home.

You don't lose, at home, to Ga. Southern, even with your entire second string starting... ever.

5th place. Mizzou, UGA, So Car, and Vandy pretty much dominated us last year. What changes in 12 months?

That's probably the biggest black eye on this program in the last 10-12 years. It's like a tramp stamp that can't be concealed and won't rub away.

I wish I can be optimistic, but I think WM is nothing but a lame-duck coach now. The first game that this guy loses next season in let down fashion, he knows he's cooked. And he'll just be on auto-pilot the rest of the season and we'll be set back farther than we ever were.

Can you imagine losing to UT early in the year, then knowing he'll be fried and just mails it in for Bama, LSU, UGA, Mizzou, SCar, FSU? I feel sorry for our guys already

I agree no excuse for losing that game but we have all of our starters in that game and no way we are losing to Ga Southern.

    Sounds good...

Stopped there. First quote only needed a period (not a conjunction).

Ga. Southern? They were without almost half their scholarship players. They brought only 47 to Gainesville that day.

Sweet jeezus. Look at our opening day roster compared to the mash unit last year and ask that again with a straight face.

My optimism did take a hit though with our lack of a backup qb and our starting qb who apparently struggles with mental acumen going through another coaching change

Next year is basecamp so long as we hold on to our key guys and pick up another dt and ol. 9 wins, with a bit of luck 10.

If the coaching staff isn't optimistic and enthusiastic going into a new season then we might as well not bother playing next year.

    Agree.

Especially with the underwhelming oc hire were looking at. Seems like setting up a lame duck year.
