I’m usually a glass is half full kind of person. I’ll admit I haven’t been with muschamp though.

That being said, why should we be optimistic for next season? Do we need to wait until spring practice to feel good? Defensively we will be fine, but obviously the elephant in the room is the offense.

I guess, one reason for optimism is that it can’t get any worse next year, right?

Just feels like next year is going to be 2011 all over again. Just scary to think that we don't have a healthy qb currently on the roster.

I think most people's optimism will be directly related to who we get for our OC.

lets be honest you and others are not going to feel good until you see how the Bama game goes. If someone like me gives you a list of the many reasons to be optimistic you wont actually believe it. I also dont think it is being optimistic but realistic that this team will be good if you look at the roster.

I'm with you. This will be the first offseason that I can remember not being optimistic going into the upcoming year. I thought we'd easily win the East this past season. Oops! The new OC will be somewhat intriguing but I'm past the point of no return with the HC, so I don't think that can be a cure-all. Just hope it becomes a more entertaining product on the field in the "meantime" ;)

I predict that there will be a LOT of "half empty" Gator fans this year. Not a lot of tangible reasons to be otherwise, IMO.

Don't worry. Come August there will be plenty of puff pieces to read to make you feel good such as:

"Freshmen pushing for early playing time in practice"
"OL looks to be strength of team"
"Driskel feeling comfortable in new system"
"New OC sees lots of offensive talent to work with"
    Etc, etc.

Now if they end up being true or not that's another matter.

Assuming our injured OL guys get healthy and come back strong, we should have a deep talented roster in most every position group. Although QB certainly looks thin with TM leaving.

Overall though, we have a lot of talent and a good amount of experience. That is a good reason to be optimistic.

Hopefully the coaching hires will give us another good reason.

Although people will tend to be who they are. Reasons to be optimistic won't change a pessimist, no matter how compelling those reasons are.

I'm not optimistic we beat uk, it's about the only streak we have that WM hasn't broken. I'm sure he will find a way to squeak out a loss to the mildcats. As for sec ranking, I'd put us 4th or 5th. How's that for optimism?

"Defensively we'll be fine".....is this the same defense that gave up over 400 yards on the ground to Ga. Southern????? And you want optimism??

I'm going to be a contrarian here. I won't have to wait until Alabama to know how good we're going to be.

Those first three games will show us if we're going to have a pulse on offense.

If we continue to play down to the level of our competition and muddle through games we should win by 40+, then I can assure you nothing has changed.

I, for one, think these transfers are a bad sign. Transfers should be bad players who don't contribute, not your guy that started several games at QB who still transfers AFTER his coach pretty much tells him he will play next year, AND misses the awards banquet on top of that. Very disturbing news coming out of Gainesville. Maybe Mack Brown is available?

We will be quite loaded next year and I expect the OC to come from USC.

This is the first transfer from someone in our two deep. It is disappointing, but certainly not hard to understand.

The Murphy transfer does puzzle me. He rode pine his entire career at UF until Driskell gets hurt, and then becomes the guy and played well until he gets hurt. If he had stayed at UF, he had a decent shot at winning the job outright. Why leave when you are --worst case scenario-an injury to Driskell away from being the starter?

A lot of my optimism just dipped when I found out our top recruit refused an in-home with Muschamp last night.

Losing Cook is a massive blow, albeit not surprising... it's on the recruiting forum but it's big enough to be here on the main boards, IMO.

At least we don't play that powerhouse GA SO next year. Rumor has it that Foley is looking for a 7-man conference.
