    Both of you are correct to a certain extent.

    But the reality is that the AA community and it's culture is what is holding the progress of AA's back in the current USA. They have embraced many cultural things that are detrimental to their own advancement. Education and work ethic are the keys to upward mobility in American society. It's not instant and it takes work, fast more work than hustling on the streets in the thug life, which happens to be easier, quicker with rewards, and far more dangerous, but pop culture has made this lifestyle oh so sexy and highly regarded. Backs only have three choices, pop star, pro athlete, or street thug, at least that's what the masses believe. To bad there are no engineers or accountants turned rappers worst thing in life if to be that type of legit, damn Uncle Tom!
