Pathetic... They now have plausible deniability as to content.

Could you imagine any other profession in the world where this is not malfeasance or nonfeasance... They are simply a joke.

It will pass the House without being read. Boehner has his marching orders. THE GOP has a lame duck Pres who is riddled with problems/corruption and the GOP spends all their time pushing the Pres agenda and splitting their own party. It is laughable. The GOP ship of fools.

But I thought Obama promised us the MOST TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION IN HISTORY???

And I say Obama because, the buck stops there, whether or not he has the stones to accept it. HE is the leader of the Democrat Party and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi won't do anything that would buck him. This has Obama's tacit if not explicit approval. And by "this" I mean ramming through a major bill at the eleventh hour without giving the public time to read about it, discuss it and communicate with their representatives.

Do you REALLY condone this type of government, progressives????

Meanwhile, some rightwingers are claiming that the amendment says Napolitano has a choice whether to build the fence or not. Corker says that's simply not true:

These guys are convinced the voters are idiots, with another 1200 pages of supposed strict immigration laws that will never be enforced.

such BS spin again GatorBill---with you referencing as a source an ultra con website that cites a Faux article.

perchance would you care to simply state when the senators were presented with the bill to read? And also state how many pages long the bill happens to be.

The amendment which many are complaining about is ---
The Hoeven-Corker amendment to the Gang of Eight bill is essentially a new bill. It is almost 1,200 pages long.

Both Corker and Hoeven are GOP

so, you might want to slam GOP on this instead of Obama

apparently you're having trouble telling the difference between the executive and legislative branches. You see, the president doesn't really control whether senators read an amendment or not.

Beyond that, if you read the story, you'd see that two Republicans sponsored the amendment in question. But you're trying to blame it all on Democrats?

If only they'd spend every waking moment passing abortion bills, like the House.

This immigration bill is BS and I do blame both sides. Don't even write a bill until the borders are secure first, this is nothing but show, just like in '06 and '86

Actually I thought this was a problem in both Bush and Obama's watch...it's just the stupidity and laziness of BOTH sides of the aisle. They assume they can just glance at something, loosely figure out the meaning, vote on it, and have there be no consequences.

These are probably the same folks that used Cliff notes in school versus actually reading the material.

And with the length of that bill, part of the problem I'm sure is that they make the bills THAT long to see what can be "sneaked in". Maybe Congress should take a speed reading course. I read the last Harry Potter book in one day and that was over 900 pages. No reason they couldn't read the bills versus spending time golfing or brown nosing or being with their mistresses.

It would take the average citizen a few days to read the original 1,100 pages and then go back and plug in all the language for the 114 page amendment. It looks like they intentionally make it difficult to break down the meat of the proposal.

If the current immigration bill goes into law it will only make more Mexicans cross that border with the U.S., and we'll have to revisit this whole dream(on) act all over again for a new set of illegals. We have to build that fence first, and put some teeth into deporting illegals that cross it no matter what their hard-luck story is.

The Pubs and the Dems need to protect our sovereignty and our border... period!
