So just name your two favorites.
Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch. Beautifully shot in black and white by Robby Muller, brilliant score by Neil Young and an unbelievable cast; Johnny Depp, Robert Mitchum in his last role, Gabriel Byrne, John Hurt, Billy Bob Thornton, Crispin Glover, Alfred Molina, Gary Farmer and a crazy cameo by Iggy Pop. Film theorist Jonathan Rosenbaum wrote an entire book on this film, saying it was a genre of it's own, "The Acid Western." It was a head trip for sure.
FYI, Jarmusch has a brand new film out, a vampire film of all things titled Only Lovers Left Alive. Tilda Swinton and Mike Hiddleston, the villain in The Avengers, are co-leads. Haven't seen it, but it sounds like an intellectual stoner fest.
Favorite drama: Godfather
Comedy: Little Big Man
Foreign: Mannon of the Spring & Jean de Florette OR Babette's Feast
Agree with, "To Kill A Mockingbird". Favorite movie and favorite book!
Not sure I could nail down a favorite, but when I was young and Star Wars first came out, that was so beyond anything else that I had seen that it would have to make my list. Similarly, when I first saw the Matrix, I was kind of blown away.
Titanic and GWTW
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Gone with the Wind
Pride and Prejudice
I have so many films I consider favorites for different reasons. Though if I have to pick one I will just go with this one.
I gave you a like for Star Wars but took half back for The Matrix
The first Matrix movie was great. The sequels kind of ruined it of course but at the time it was the start of a kind of new era of possibility for scifi films. Then of course they pushed the tech and christ metaphor a little too far and gave us those other crappy films.
I havent seen it in years. Wonder if it holds up.
As i'm sure you've noticed(DKR threads) once i've made up my mind that an actor makes a movie unwatchable that's it "Game over man"
case in point
hijack over I promise
Yeah, not trying to change your mind if thats your reason. I dont find too many actors that can ruin a movie for me. I do have this weird thing with Daniel Craig though where I can not finish a movie he is in. I dont even dislike the guy just havent finished a single movie he has done.
I like Keanu for what he is. Heck I even like Bale, I just love Batman and wish we got a Batman movie instead of whatever DKR was.
The Outlaw Josey Wales
