I'll go with whatever Jeremy decides either way.

Between hiring both Zook and Muchamp and allowing Meyer to do nothing for a year and then lie to our face, I don't think Foley's football decisions are looking so solid at the moment.

I think I've proven my loyalty...I wouldn't post the OP if not completely convinced. It took me to long to come to this point.

Look if he is retained, I will support...cheer...and hope he turns it around...but I completely believe a change needs to happen...and I hate it...because I really like WM.

Name me 1 coach who had home run hires at every position in his first 2 yrs at a top football program? Hell, any football program for that matter. Or one that kept hiring great assistants after some left for other gigs or sucked. And the team went from garbage to great on both sides of the ball. But somehow WM was supposed to? In 2 1/2 years no less.

    I'll wait...

With all hires there will be uncertainties. Just because they thrived at another school don't guarantee success here, and vice versa.

It wasn't long ago that a loss to USCe was viewed the same way. I think Franklin's got that team on the right track. They played well and we made some AWFUL mistakes on our side of the field that cost us dearly. You cant give them starting position in the red zone 3 times and expect anything different than what we saw today. I'm not sold that WM's not the answer and I'm not sold he should stay. I believe an OC, if given the reigns, might make a huge difference on this team. As well as a steady dose of Kelvin T. But, that's just my opinion.

As part of team skeptical-until-you-show-me-something since Zook, and Meyer showing what a good new hire looks like, and with how a Gator board (surprisingly) reacts to that, it's a good thing to see this. Rep to you sir tilly.

That said, we've been this same team for three years, it shouldn't take this long for criticism to be kosher.

One question - when the new staff took over, were we worse off than Vanderbilt?

If 50 years from now the Gators look bad in a game, these people will be saying "curse you Urban Meyer!!" even though the guy won two national championships and is on the short list of greatest coaches we ever had.

I'm sure Wormwood could give you the records of SEC coaches over the last ten yrs with exp vs no exp. I would bet that the guys without exp struggle more, just a bet.

After Ron, I didn't want a guy w/o HC experience. The SEC is just too tough these days.

According to what Meyer said, "They have so much great young talent stocked up there, I can win NOW."

That actually happens more often then not for championship caliber programs.

In the last 10 years, all but one coach (Mack Brown) who had his team playing in the BCS championship either had a team playing for, or winning a national championship within his first 3 years with the program.

The winners win pretty quickly in CFB. One would think they could not have done so with poor coordinators, staff, etc.

    Hey Tilly --

I just wanted to say that I respect you, and your post made me sad.

I haven't been a fan since his first real explosion on the sidelines, and I've tried to be fair in my criticism. I'll admit thinking before the game that I really wouldn't mind losing today if it meant an easier path to replacing someone who I sincerely think is not up to the job.

But that was different than actual watching it. And the reality of actually losing to Vanderbilt, of a post-season without a bowl, of a program that has given me this much pleasure being so bad, that it just took the wind out of the rest of my day. And then seeing you, who have been an honest and rational supporter, throwing in the towel, it just hit me.

Things are broken. They can be fixed, but things are broken right now. And that makes me pretty sad.

It'll be back. But for now it's not. Still great to be a Gator, but some days are greater than others.
