To keep from having a 100 page thread we will use this thread until the verdict is announced.
Txt alert if you need one:
I suspect that this thread will not go 100 pages. :ninja:
Something else on my list of suspicions: Not a single one of the people who need to be listening to what the Sheriff of Seminole County is saying on TV right now is listening to what the Sheriff of Seminole County is saying on TV right now.
...and one more suspicion, notwithstanding the previous one: No rioting.
The local news will find someone doing something stupid and try to tie it to the verdict.
Prediction: More predictions will be made in this thread
Maybe we should have had a poll on the verdict. Not necessarily what you believe it should be but what you think it will be.
I missed the closing arguments due to work but from what I have seen and read I still come down on the side of the State not proving its case on any count. However I'm not so sure the jury is going to see it that way.
How long do you think the jury will deliberate? And do you think that a longer deliberation would favor the prosecution?
Good idea, you could edit the thread to add a poll. You have to click "Go Advanced" though.
Why the press conference?
Oops, I'm wrong, no you can't. Maybe using your magical moderator powers you can though.
Since David started it I won't change it now. Maybe he will be interested in doing so.
As you would expect, to urge people not to riot. At one point he turned to the police chief who proceeded to list all the demands that were made by all the protestors who came down to Sanford when Zimmerman was not arrested promptly enough, and said they had complied with all those demands. Basically "we gave you everything you asked for so STFU if it doesn't play out the way you want in the end."
CNN interviewing O'Mara. O'Mara says Crump was guilty of victimizing GZ by a public relations policy based on TM being just a young teenager and GZ being a 250 lb bruiser with an attitude of racism.
O'Mara said in his closing that some people think he looks like Joel O'Steen.
What say you?
If longer I think it does favor the prosecution in this case but only leading to a hung jury at worse. There may be a juror possibly two that ate the emotional plea by the prosecution but I just do not see 6 people convicting Zimmerman based on what was presented...
By the way I believe this is what caused the backlash to the backlash.
In other words it backfired on Crump with a large segment of the population
Having watched the, at times, vociferious discussion related to this case on this board (although not watched the trial itself), and having heard a post-trial quotation by Zimmerman's defense attorney that I happen to agree with, I feel the need to repeat the general substance of it here. Like many high profile criminal trials, there are no victors in this case. Irrespective of the result, the Martin family is without a son as a result of what happened that night. Irrespective of the result, the Zimmerman family's lives will never be the same. Whether he spends a period of time (which could be his life) in prison, or is acquitted, it should be obvious that George Zimmerman will not be able to return to the street of his neighborhood watch, much less the city of Sanford or likely any place in the United States, and be treated "normally."
The events of that night were tragic and the result, no matter what it is, will leave two families changed forever. Perhaps it is worth keeping that perspective in mind.
In the absence of a formal poll apparatus I will go ahead and cast my vote:
Until I read the Jury Instructions I thought there was a better chance than I do now of the Jury trying to split the baby by finding for manslaughter. But the instructions are very clear. If they follow them faithfully, and apply the law to the facts that we have all seen painted by the evidence...
