Yeah, he sure loves the Gators. His second favorite team...
He really thinks we're that stupid.
Hall - just please don't ban Bert. There's some fun to be had here.
I usually agree with your posts but in this case I have to say it's good to take out the trash!!!!
It is one of the only things in the Calipari era that I can't stand is Rod Strickland. A drunk driver nearly killed my sister so personally I think all people who choose to drive drunk deserve some bad karma
I knew it. BEH is a typical kitty fan. Get him out of here
Bert's posts are like this:
His insistence that he pulls for Florida just irks me.
Just admit that he's a hater and move on, instead of conducting a charade.
I guess his site has improved its updating time, as it already reflects today's game. Florida has moved up from 17th to 10th and now sports the nation's 9th ranked defense.
Yep. They're also like this:
I think part of it is that we just play much better at home. This group really feeds off the crowd when it comes to defensive intensity, they get more loose balls and for more turnovers, then get out on the break more often. I also think they are a little more aggressive offensively early in the clock at home. Remains to be seen if we can get this kind of a performance in a neutral site, but at this stage a loss at home this year would actually surprise me.
Depending on where the site is I feel good about our having a solid contingent of Gators in a neutral arena. The way we showed up at Auburn was very nice.
Agree about the home court, but also because it's easier to shoot in a familiar setting. They played pretty well in a neutral setting against Memphis. Also agree that any home loss would be unexpected, but we will be tested against Mizzou, UK, and LSU.
That is a dick-ish statement by BEH. Doesn't rely surprise me. Sorry it is a problem to have guys stay in a program four years. Lets see, we may have a player with a weed problem (i think so) that has been suspended and done his punishment. Glass houses BEH, glass houses.
Personally, I think the lack of a plethora (can you use that word in a sports forum?) of 3 point shooters, as well as a nicely mature senior group, has determined that this team can't just jack up 3s and win like previous seasons. And Billy is going to remind them when they come out of the game that they are a defense first team. And everyone seems to be embracing their roles.
But for the tourney, front court foul trouble is still the thing to worry about. Well, that and down-the-stretch FT shooting.
Agreed, front court foul trouble could be our biggest issue and Walker would be the clear answer, FREE CHRIS WALKER, but we do have Kurtz who can at least hold his own for a few mins and Devon Walker and Finney-Smith have length, just not the beef to spell WY and Young in a disaster scenario.
Likes yesterday: Scottie hitting a couple of big threes (now over 40%) and doing a great job using his body to shield and finish at the rim, obviously Scottie and Devon Walker totally annihilated McCrae all day, and Kasey Hill- I think he is turning a corner, MUCH more confident in his game today, he does not need to hit threes this year, just keep driving and dishing.
Dislikes: game threads are awful when you can't post from mobile devices, used to really enjoy the game threads, Rowdies were great yesterday but we are missing a great branding and marketing opportunity by not putting them where the tv cameras can see them, in fact when they are up, shaking pom poms and cheering with their backs to the camera it blocks the near sideline view on the tv screen. I have no idea why they don't fix that, should be simple
Scottie is now at 70% FT shooting too.
For those keeping track, with win #467, Billy has moved past long time Michigan & Iowa State coach Johnny Orr into 69th place in all time NCAA Division 1 wins.
Here's what is ahead (and behind) him.
65. Rollie Massimino 481
66. Fred Enke 480
67. Fran Dunphy 473 (Currenty 5-12 this season at Temple)
68. Jim Harrick 470
69. Billy Donovan 467
70. Johnny Orr 466
71. Ben Braun 465 (Rice)
Taps Gallagher 465
73. Bob McKillop 462 (Davidson)
74. Tom Izzo 457 (Mich State)
My fervent wish is for Billy to stay at UF until the retires. And I hope that is a long time in the future.
Take Billy's 430+ wins at UF and subtract them from our overall win total of 1308.
It really drives the point home as to what he's meant for Florida basketball.
