The Gators head off to Starkville MS on the heels of a very good week so far. First they moved up to #3/4 in the polls on Monday; then both Kentucky and Missouri drop games which leaves Florida two games up in the SEC standings; following that on Wednesday the big news everyone has been waiting on finally comes down. Chris Walker has been cleared to play and will make his debut next Tuesday when the team hosts Missouri. After a season that started with one type of bad news after the other things sure are looking better for Billy and the team. Of course I'm not partial but I don't think it could happen to a better group. They have worked their way through all of the ills and downturns to compile an excellent record up to this point and they deserve some good things to fall in place.

Florida will face a team that has compiled a 13-6 overall record while standing 3-3 in league play. All of their conference losses have been on the road while they have not dropped a game at home with wins over Ole Miss, Auburn, and Texas A&M. Since wins on the road in the SEC are almost always tough I think we can expect another hard fought game with the home standing Bulldogs giving it everything they have to knock off the top 5 ranked visiting Gators. Once again Florida's smothering defense should prove to be a big problem for State and if the Gators can find the range on offense early on it could be a double-digit win on the road.

After this the team returns home for a three game stand against Texas A&M, Missouri, and Bama.

    Go Gators!!!!!

"Ole Miss guard Marshall Henderson and his antics don’t always bring out the best in people. Last year, we saw a crazy set of Auburn fans who looked like they were ready to rush the court and jump him. Saturday, we saw Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray throw an f-bomb his way with just seconds to play in Ole Miss’ victory. In short, Henderson clearly has a way of getting under his opposition’s skin."

    Miss State head coach apology...

I've just got a bad feeling about this one. I guess I figure that we are due.

Sorry Goth, this is NOT Gator football with Ron Zook.

    Miss State ranks:
    303rd in free-throw % (14th in SEC)
    300th in 3-point FG % (14th in SEC)
246th in rebounding margin (14th in SEC)
169th in scoring margin (10th in SEC)
153rd in scoring defense (10th in SEC) while we are 1st in SEC and #9 in NCAA

The only thing they do better than us is steal more and foul less.

Never misunderestimate the power of the cowbell on the refs.

I thought the gatorzone pregame notes had them committing about a foul a game more than us, but I could have misread it. Either way, it was really close. The thing is, their better wins have been a result of getting to the foul line against teams with bad defenses that commit tons of fouls. They beat Ole Miss by shooting 47 free throws I believe. They will definitely get some home court calls, but we are very good at defending without fouling. As long as we don't gift too many trips at the line, we are 15 points better than them. JMO.

This is such a huge game. If we survive this road game we likely start the SEC season 10-0 with 3 home games coming up.

I have to believe we get this one. They are going to be home and scrappy but I feel the Gators are just too much for them unless we just have a really bad off night. I am less concerned with that than in past years due to the seniors we have.

Thank goodness, seems like we have to deal with him every time we've ever played them
