Florida looks to capture its 16 straight victory and maintain control of the SEC as it heads to Knoxville for a rematch with the Volunteers. Coming off of a successful 3 game home stand, the Gators head to a venue which has not been kind to UF and Billy Donovan. Billy D is 5-12 all-time at Knoxville. The last win in Knoxville was in 2011 when the Gators won in overtime led by seniors Chandler Parsons, Alex Tyus and Vernon Macklin. That win was one of several tough road wins for that team that made a first of 3 Elite 8s and a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. This years team will need similar tough road wins as that team had in hopes of a high NCAA. Tough road venues will soon follow including @UK, @ Miss and @ Vanderbilt.

Tennessee has been somewhat a disappointment this season after being considered legitimate threats to UF and UK for the SEC title. However, they find themselves firmly on the NCAA bubble, with 4 losses already in SEC play including a 67-41 route in Gainesville. UT has two all conference players in Stokes (14 ppg and 10.3 rb) and McRae (19.3 ppg), however McRae was a no-show in the previous meeting this year hitting only 1-15 on his field goal attempts. Last year in Knoxville, McRae torched the Gators for 27 points, but this year he was held in check. The keys to a repeat performance for UF in getting this difficult road win is protecting the 3 point line and rebounding the misses as Stokes is one of the best rebounders in the country.

As for Florida, they have found ways to win games this year in a multitude of ways. With defense, with 3 point shooting, with fast paced transition points or more slow tempo physical games. However, the most consistent and important part of this team will always be great overall team defense and senior leadership against adversity. The latter will be crucial as they head to Knoxville, a place which hasn't been kind to the Gators in the past and has offered constant adversity.

We need this game to make a statement in the NCAA Tourney....and because I absolutely HATE Tennessee.
Hope everyone treats this game very seriously before we head to Lexington (my 2nd most-hated BB team).

This should be a great week of bb for Gator fans. I think both of the next two games are going to be close contests that could well go down to the wire.

The four seniors give me some type of deep confidence and calm. They have not paniced this season.

Gotta love the way our guys came back against both Mizzou and Bama when the chips were down.
    Cool, calm and determined.

I will be there tomorrow night, and I am excited as ever, but I just do not think we get this win. We have a long history of bad games in Knoxville, given the exception of 2011 game in OT. I have been to every UF-UT game in Knoxville since '08-'09 season, and I am 1-3 seeing us play UT. Will be cheering strong from the stands. Go Gators!

We beat UT by 10......even on the road............our guys are fearless and poised...(yes, THAT word)

At UK we might be outgunned due to the biased zebra herd that graze at Rupp....

This is not the Bruce Pearl-led team of years past..
Texas A&M beat the Vols at their place and they have 10 losses already.
And the Aggies did the job with only Jamal Jones scoring most the points.
In fact, A&M was outscored 32-to-18 by Tenn in the 1st half and still won.
The key is keeping Stokes and McRae in check...which our defense can do.

It seems like the Gators are really getting up for the big games this year. If we take this one, I think we get the one in KY too.

We have played very well in tough environments this seasons.

At Wisconsin was a situation we would have had to play perfectly to win.

At UConn DeVon Walker (2 mints) and Hill (didn't play), UConn shot very, very well and they still needed a fluke bounce to Napier to win.

At Arkansas we were dead in the water down 7 with under 5 minutes to go and won that one while Arkansas still had their homecourt mojo going.

It's getting close to game time so I would like to touch on a few things. We all know this will probably be a tough game with the chance of a loss. The thing is let's keep the posts within the rules of the board.

No use of the F word, or the MF word, or the GD word (in any form). Something like WTF we usually let slide. Also no insulting of our players, the coaches, or other posters. Win or lose let's try to keep it between the ditches and not let our emotions get the best of us.

With that said I welcome everyone to the game thread and .......

    Go Gators!!!!!!

I save all my vitriol for the football team.
Our BB team actually has a coach.
