You got to wonder about his game when you see a stat line line that...against a small school...No Dwight Howard ..we get that but Jacob Kurtz outscored him...

UNF was pretty impressive even given that we were very short handed. Hope everybody learned something from the experience.

Thanks...I've been in football mode for the past couple of months...not up to date on the hoops team yet.

So, this was basically our B squad today? If that's the case, then I don't feel so bad.

We will be a totally different team at full strength especially if Walker comes aboard in January. We will be a very dangerous and deep team. Next few might be ugly though

On the bright side, both Casey and Kasey looked good. Kasey Hill is going to be a special player by the time the SEC season rolls around. Frazier also played well.

That says it all. Nothing against Kurtz, but this was a very depleted gator team

Patrick is just a very average basketball player. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hill and Frazier really carried the team in the second half.

All in all, it's about what I expected. UNF is not a bad team. Not SEC caliber, but not bad. They've got some good shooters and good length. That was evident.

The Gators simply haven't had many practices with all the guys available. Most of the guys on the floor today (Hill, Frasier, Graham, Prather, Yeguete, Carter, Young, Donovan III) have been playing through injury or illness. We'll get better each time out.

    Jason Lieser ‏@PBPjasonlieser 4s
Gators coach Billy Donovan says his team struggles with three-point defense every game and "every day in practice."

    Jason Lieser ‏@PBPjasonlieser 45s
Gators coach Billy Donovan: "We are light years away from being even a remotely good defensive team or being a ranked team at all."

^this is what was troubling to me. They are so out of position on three point shots before the pass

I went to the game, and wasn't worried at all. Kurtz was playing most of the game, which should tell you that this isn't the same team that's going to be playing in a month or so. Prather looks dominant, Hill might wind up being the best PG to ever play at UF, and Frazier was great even though he was really sick.

People aren't going to give UNF credit, but they are a really well coached team with a few high ceiling guys that played on a high level today.

I hope we play better. A lot of people seem to be worried about the offense or say they are not worried because we are getting good players back soon so the scoring will be better. The defense is the scary part even back ups should know where to be defensively.

Let's give Jacob Kurtz some credit. He's not an extended-minutes High Division-1 player. He's never gonna star for us, but he's improved to the point where he can give you a few minutes here and there without hurting you. He's passing well, rebounding okay, playing hard, playing defense, and not trying to go nuts with the ball.

Love the guy. As others get eligible and healthy, his minutes will continue to diminish, but if need him, he can contribute.

The season just started. Teams everywhere will be missing assignments and playing out of position. What you need to think about is: Wilbekin, Finney-Smith, Harris, and Chris Walker. That's some serious defensive talent that hasn't even stepped onto the floor yet.

He's a very solid big guy. But people were comparing him to Dwight Howard coming in. Obviously that's not fair.

That being said, he needs to rebound much better. If you look at his stats from 2013, just about across the board he was worse than the previous year.

It would be nice if he could get his PPG up to about 12-14 PPG, and more importantly get his rebounding up closer to 10. I didn't get to watch today's game due to the 3PM time, but it looks like stats wise it wasn't a great start (2 points, 2 rebs).

Normally I would say it doesn't even matter, due to being a lesser opponent. But given how shorthanded we were, I would have expected all the starters to statistically have pretty big days.

Young didn't have a great game but he set out over half of the first half due to foul trouble.

Blah blah blah at any negative commentary. This is not the Gator team that will be on the floor come December or even late November. This team will soon be nasty good.

Atleast we finally beat a team by less than 10 points. Won a close game and got that monkey from last year off our backs haha
