But that's Billy D speak. This will be a VERY good team. But it will peak a little later. This team will be very, very dangerous as the season is winding down.
Simply put, nobody will want to draw us come March
Forgot about that. Good point!
Also, I don't know how much we can really take away from this game regarding the team considering how many players were recovering from injuries, suspended for the game, and just plain having 1st game jitters.
Billy is being honest. We're NOT a good defensive team at this moment, and there's a lot to work on. That's what you want from your coach.
As a fan, what I saw yesterday was a team that is still not good on defense, but was slightly better at it than they were in the exhibition, and against a slightly better opponent. Progress, in other words.
Now, we'll probably get torched by Wisconsin, although with their style, who knows? A loss there won't bother me (unless we just phone in the effort). What I hope to see is the problems on defense start to vanish a little; closing out on open perimeter guys, rotating in the middle, etc.
On offense, we still had some spacing problems, though not nearly as much as against Florida Southern. There weren't many efforts to get Pat in the flow either, and BD pointed that out in the postgame.
