Anyone who has been following the team knows this game is going to be a tall order for a depleted Gator squad. Florida goes into the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisc. once again short three of their main players. Scottie Wilbekin, Dorian Finney-Smith and Damontre Harris are still suspended while Will Yeguette and Eli Carter are still trying to return to full form after injuries. Added to that Michael Frazier is only one game removed from a serious bout with mono and optimism is hard to come by for the Gator faithful.

Billy simply states if we don't play better than we did against North Florida we are not going to win the game. Our defense was poor and with Young and Hill getting into early foul trouble it compounded our depth issues. If this type of thing happens tomorrow we are going to be in deep doo-doo early on.

On the bright side we still are going to field some quality players and while predicting a win might be a stretch I think the guys can put up a good showing. If they can find a way to keep Wiski from opening up a big lead a lot of things can happen in a close game.

Either way let's hope we have a good showing while keeping in mind this will give some of the younger guys much needed game experience against a top-notch opponent.

    Go Gators!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I can say is poor decisions made by young people. Out with your peers and taking chances is nothing new on the scene. It has been happening as long as there have been kids. Doesn't excuse their behavior at all and they have to pay the consequences of poor judgment. Hopefully they learn these acts hurts not only themselves but the team and the fans who are counting on them.

What?!!! Fire the coach!!!! Where is depth? No excuesses!!!!!

LOL... just kidding... thought I was still on swamp gas...

Go Gators! Would love to see a win, but I agree with Hall... we are going to have to do a lot of uphill climbing to pull this one out. Luckily an early season loss is nearly meaningless in BBall.

I haven't followed basketball over the off season like I would've so if you don't mind filling me in on a few things,
How bad are the injuries WY and Carter have? Will they play tonight?
How long are DFS, Harris and wilbiken suspended for?

To answer your first question both WY and Carter should play. My understanding is that Will is coming along nicely and was able to go full speed in practice this week. Carter is a bit behind him in his recovery.

I think the only one who knows the answer to the second question is Billy and he is not saying at this time. Only thing he says is it is game-to-game evaluation.

    Thank you.
what does the bench look like beyond the starting 5? I know the guard depth should be ok but who are some big men that could give a couple minutes with the suspensions?

Eli Carter is playing on one leg. Let's hope he gets back to 100%, but right now he is far from the player who torched us for 31 points a few years ago. We will put a real good starting lineup on the floor tonight, but we have close to zero depth. We are in deep doo doo if we get in foul trouble tonight. Assuming that down the road we add a healthy Carter plus Wilbekin, Harris, Finney-Smith and Chris Walker, we will be as loaded as we were in 2000 when we played for the national title.

The following is the probable starters for tonight:

That will give us Yeguette and Kurtz coming off the bench as the forward spots. Jacob added some pretty good minutes against North Florida so we will see how he fare against a better opponent.

At the guard spot we have Carter, Dillon Graham, and possibly Billy Donovan walk-on son of the coach.

We don't think that Yeguette is starting over Walker yet? Who is at the 4 in this lineup, Prather?

I saw the same starting lineup on two different sites. However one could have borrowed from the other. I don't really know about who is playing the 4 and the 3. Kind of guessing Prather may be at the 3.

Seems like it will be quite awhile before this team rounds in to shape and gets weaved together by BD. If the defense was tougher at this stage, maybe we could pull it out. As it is we need a couple of guys to catch fire. Like 10 for 10.

Looks like our game will likely start on ESPNews as VCU-Virginia finishes up.

i'm setting my expectations low for this particular game. venue. short bench. cold weather. on the road. i'll be surprised if we win this one. ecstatic too about it. this will be a good one for the coaches to use to get the gators playing better down the road.
