    2011 – We Sign 9 offensive recruits:

    Blakley (RB) – Transferred
    Brisset (QB) – Transferred
Driskel (QB) – Out for the Season
Tommy Jordan (OL) – Career ending injury
    *Hunter Joyer (FB) – Contributor
    AC Leonard (TE) – Transferred
    J. McROY (WR) – Transferred
    J. Story (WR) – Transferred
Trip Thurman (OL) – I don’t know if he’s playing or not, had an injury in spring, I don’t recall seeing him.

We have 1 offensive recruit, Hunter Joyer, Playing this year. But, the good news is two defensive recruits, Clay Burton and Showers have moved to offense, so we have 3 offensive contributors available from 2011, and Thurman as a back-up.

    2012 – We sign 8 offensive recruits:

    Dunker (OL) – Transferred
    *Humphries (OL) - Contributor
Mornhigwig (QB) – Probably a career back up
    M. Jones (RB) – Out for the season
Kent Taylor (TE) – Little or no playing time
    C. Thompson (TE) – Little or no playing time
Andrades (WR) – Little or no playing time
Pittman (WR) – Little or no playing time

Again, 1 recruit who is currently playing. We'll get Jones back, and the TEs and WRs might develop into starters.

But as it stands now, we have basically 2 offensive recruits from 11-12 currently getting significant playing time, plus 2 with season ending injuries who should be back next year. Sadly, these are the guys that should be our juniors and seniors next year. This kind of recruiting bust might take 3 more years to get over.

They dont have 3 years to get over. They need to get it done in 2014. That being said this is what happens during coaching transitions. The 2013 offensive class was strong.

That is truly worrisome. Our freshmen from the last recruiting class are certainly going to be counted on in a big way in 2014.

I hope you're right. In the 2013 class, I count only 11 of 29 on offense. Of which, only 4 are linemen. Multiply that by 4 classes, and that makes only 16 scholarship linemen (which is razor thin). At that rate, UF can't afford a single injury, transfer, dismissal, or for anyone to be a non-contributor on the OL.

I wish the coaches were half as smart as the fans.

Not to mention the huge misses like Diggs, Nelson Agholor, and Mike Davis. But as Az said, they don't have 3 years. 2014 is do or die for the staff.

Why didn't UF sign a top-shelf QB in the 12 or 13 class? Anyone??

So if there were 25 total recruits those years, which is about average, lets take out 2 for special teams. 2011: 25-2-9=14 2012: 25-2-8=15

    so in 2011: 14 defensive recruits,ONLY 9 offensive recruits
2012 15 def. recruits, ONLY 8 off. recruits.

Need I break it down more.

I'm just amazed they can't get on field considering what's ahead of them. that's the part that scares me.

Me too. Maybe we could crack the top 100 in total Offense then.

If Muschamp had come here with the same offensive scheme used by Meyer, I think offensive recruiting would have been better because we had already been pursuing the type of players needed. I recall though that people used to complain that Meyer was keeping RBs and WRs away with his option style of offense.

Umm, how about the fact that this post is very factual, and very disconcerting? We have clearly messed up in recruiting offensive players, and it is showing up big time. What's even more disturbing is all the chatter from our coach about how he was recruiting depth, and that this is a "line of scrimmage" league, but we have no offensive line of scrimmage.

I don't care if they are know it alls like us. I care if they are as smart as their competition and right now we appear to be failing in that area. Players staying at UF is a critical issue and we keep losing too any. Character flaws or not just too many. At least we aren't hearing "the 1% thing still".

Sure we've messed up on the offense in recruiting, but let's be realistic about where most of the mess up resides.

2010 (which was also a disaster) and 2011 are on the prior regime. Muschamp gets full credit for 2012. He wasn't helped by Weiss, but that's still on him.

2013 class appears to be outstanding... although we won't know for a couple of years, like any class.

2014 class is setting up to be outstanding again wrt skill players, but we really need to land a full set of OL again.

We appear to be well on the right track with recruiting, but it takes a few years to see that pay off, especially on the OL. Hopefully a couple of players from the 2013 class will be ready to play well next year, but having even two RS Frosh on an OL is usually a recipe for problems. 2015 is when you should see that class start coming through. Then 2016 for the 2014 class.

It takes time for OL to develop.

Never said I was a coach. You said "as smart as".

I think we could do better - much better - than the coaching we've gotten with the money and resources we have to offer.
