I'm assuming not a lot of folks have clicked through on this. Good story and a nice addition to some of the debates that have been going on around here

Good to hear the bad guy didn't get away! Wonder if once he heals up and gets out of jail will he be doing "work" life this any more?

This kind of stuff could tend to make a robber paranoid. Pretty bad when a fellow can't pull off a heist without someone shooting at him.

Yeah, call me crazy, but I wouldnt be all that thrilled about a potential gun battle in a restaurant I was in, especially if they just wanted to rob the cash register.

wgb-if the guy was aiming his gun at you and might not only shoot you but others you might feel differently- we are going to see this happen more and more as more and more of us are getting our CWP and are carrying our gun

Adding a second gun (or more) to the equation doesn't do me any favors as a bystander, especially if both wannabe hero and robber want to shoot it out, or the robber just wants to rob the store, and not execute every last motherf'r in the place. The last thing I want to do is die because some idiot wants to get in a gun battle with another idiot for the cash in a Waffle House cash register.

Long story short, I dont want random person with CWP "defending us all." That's what the police are for. How 'bout just defending yourself, if you are directly threatened?

I don't think the guy was a wannabe hero.

I will take my chances with the CCP crowd, rather than with the "just leave the crazy mo-fo robber with a gun on crack, he aina gonna hurt nobody but the cashier alone" crowd.

Squirrely guys with a gun - who aren't crazy already - might go to full on crazy if the slightest thing went wrong, like say, the police just happened to show up while he was brandishing at the register. Then the real likelihood is that the patrons become either hostages, mass victims, or in one hell of a worse jam.

Unless, of course, the guy just calmly surrendered after all that.

    I prefer the CCP solution.

I say arm all Waffle House cooks and waitresses. Not only will they blow away anyone who comes in making trouble, they'll shoot each other as they air their grievances in front of the customers. That's entertainment!

He did, and police can't be everywhere all the time. See the liberal utopia of Detroit. I can't believe that some on here are actually upset with this story. I love it when the bad guys are defeated!

If the armed citizens hadn't had police connections, they'd probably be in jail along with the robber.
