Then I'd rather it be Helton, which I am about as uncertain of as I was DJ Durkin being moved from ST's the DC, which turned out to be the bad move I thought it would be.

Of course, I'd rather have Helton than another Muschamp "yes man" like the unimaginative and predictable Applewhite.

Yea, I’m not sure Durkin should have been our DC as well. I’m not familiar with Durkins history and I know I could look it up, but regardless a move from ST to DC seemed odd to me.

He wasn't ST--he was LBs and had been since Meyer's last year, but also handled the STs. At any rate, I was probably more underwhelmed by the defense than the offense last year, if only because they did not suffer the massive injury problems the offense did until very late in the season.

And that was always a mistaken assumption. It wasn't Petersen's show with Pease anymore than it was Hawkins's show when Petersen was his OC or Koetter's when Hawkins was his OC. Same system, same origins, even if Petersen probably did more with it than the others. I wasn't as down on Pease as some, but AZ was correct that implementing the Boise scheme is very different from running it. Pease ran it fine at Boise, but he also inherited players recruited for it and schooled in it--as he had been for several years as receivers coach. Here, however, implementing it with such different personnel and an uneven offensive roster, not to mention against SEC competition, was entirely too much for him to pull off.

When guys are in trouble they always surround themselves with their "tightest buds", their closest friends. Circle the wagons.

applewhite, has always been applewhite, and no one else BUT applewhite.

Lousy hire but that it what it will be. Brace yourselves.

Agreed. It definitely dampens my expectations for next season.

good question no telling who the OC might be. I never thought for a minute Muschamp would be our head coach. how many well known OCs out there want to risk their reputation under Muschamp
