Why do you accuse so many people of having multiple screen names when you have no clue who has 1 or 100 of them? Anytime somebody disagrees with you, you pull out the multi-moniker card. Accusing people of multi-screen names when they do not agree with you is frowned upon here ;)

Yeah, but would we have to have a large turnover in specialized personnel to run that type of offense?

What do you think about APK's post about an offense like AU's Oak?

IDK anything about Darlington's offense, but the guy does sound like someone who deserves a look. The way he shifted gears with his offense when his QB went down is very impressive.

But if I'm Muschamp, do I take a chance on a HS guy? I think I'd have to have struck out on the experienced college guys I was targeting before I took that chance.

But if I'm comparing Darlington to a guy who is experienced but has had mediocre results (Applewhite for instance), I'd give Darlington a shot.

We aren't taking a HS coach lol. If we did, might as well take Grier's dad. If we are going to lower divisions, I'm sure Bell would be the guy.

You're probably right that we won't take a HS coach, or probably even consider one. But I don't think that's a wise outlook. Look at what Malzahn has done.

Just cos Malzahn was able to do that, doesn't mean every good HS coach can. He is most likely the exception. The college and HS game are different, and there is going to be a transition period. Houston Nutt was an offensive guy. So whatever Malzahn didn't know about the college game, Nutt was there to make sure it happened. I'm not an expert, but I'm going to guess HS and college practices are significantly different.

We aren't in the same boat with a defensive minded DC. We need a guy who has experience running a successful system at the college level and bring immediate results. Taking a HS guy would just be a poor gamble. It's not to say he couldn't do well after a year or two of adjustment, but we don't have that time.

Well, I already said that he should be looking at proven college guys first so we agree on that.

But if we don't have a proven, successful OC available who wants the job, taking an experienced college guy who hasn't done much is just going to give us another offense that doesn't do much.

Hopefully it doesn't come down to that, but if it does, I'd rather have a guy who absolutely lights it up in HS or lower level college, and against similar competition. Having a bright creative mind for the sport, and being able to teach effectively are qualities that translate.

I am guessing that the difficult situation that the gators are in as that most proven college level OC guys are either happy and well paid at the school they are having success at or are major targets of other schools to be HC. I think that leaves us with current OC's at the college level that have not achieved resounding success as a college OC's but might still OR guys at much smaller tier 2 or 3 schools that have blown the doors off at that level and are looking for a chance to break into the "big time" and prove they can make it work in the sec.

Utah announces Dave Christensen as OC. Dennis Erickson will coach RBs and Brian Johnson QBs.

Looks like it will be Helton or Applewhite by process of elimination.

I would still like to see us hire Bob Stitt. That guy's innovation alone would make it fun to watch.

I love Stitt also but over 2 to 1 pass to run. Of course he runs 92 plays a game on average. Boom's not ready for that much change.

Seems like a good group there at Utah. Erickson has really gone downhill from being the Head Coach at scUM,

Yeah Stitt, google search him if you must but he's an amazing offensive mind. Just ask Dana Holgorsen.

Yep, at this point it appears very obvious (unfortunately) the UF OC hire will be one of the two and probably in that order.
