I was thinking what good OC candidates would be out there potentially. An upcoming OC may just wait until a head coaching job is available. Then I thought what about a coach who is on the hot seat but was a great OC. Then Dana Holgersen's name came up. His offensives were also solid and definitely had production. Maybe the head coaching thing is not working out for him but could still be an effective OC.

If he isn't the coach at WVU at the end of this year, he may be the only top tier OC we could get at this point since he and WMC used to coach together at Texas. I think everyone else would be scared to come here as Will is going to be on the hot seat next season.

Holgersen was at Texas Tech and Houston, but not at Texas. But still I think this could be potentially a good hire if of course he is let go at WV. I remember there were rumors about him coming to Florida but then he got the WV head coaching gig.

Why would any decent OC come here knowing Muschamp's philosophy and the fact he's on the hot seat? I'm afraid we are stuck in limbo from any significant upgrade

I don't think Holgerson ever coached at Texas. He was at Texas tech. This scenario has been mentioned. I think it's a long shot for a few reasons but would probably be our best case scenario.

Well maybe Muschamp needs to change his philosophy if he wants to remain a head coach because what he is doing is clearing not working.

Holgerson is another coordinator that has flopped as a head coach. Got resume, but his offense hasnt been all that this year.

Yep. We all wanted him after the 2010 season when there were rumors about urban replacing addazio. Of course, that changed once urban resigned. Also, holgerson initially only got the OC/head coach in waiting at WV. Then B. Stewert went crazy and the rest is history.

With Oliver Luck, the athletic director who hired him, probably going to Texas, there is a good chance Holgersen becomes unemployed. Some coaches are better at being a coordinator than they are as a head coach.

OC candidate? So Muschamp can also micro-manage him and have him run the between the tackles offense he wants?

The problem is the head ball coach folks, no matter how much one wants to try and act like it isn't.

Air Raid is really in vogue right now. A sleeper name would be Neal Brown.

You're probably right Greygator but Pease definitely was a suspect hire. From his very little OC experience, his debacle at Baylor to the former Kentucky player saying how bad Pease was, there is just too much smoke.

Three OCs in 4 years? Not a good recipe. Just fire the whole staff. They aren't ready for the big time.

Probably not, but he is going to get canned with the way the offense is now. We have been horrible for the past three years. We all know what the definition of insanity is.

Exactly, just start over, changing OC's at this point is like putting ointment on a cannon ball wound.

You really think Holgersen gets fired this year? I kind of doubt it.

Who hires the 3rd oc in 4 years? WM is batting. 000 in that dept. Wait, I forgot, according to some Belichik and Meyer forced the cheeseburger on us. Still means he's batting o'fer. Maybe let Sully pick this one.
