He left us. I respect him and appreciate what he did here but he is a coach of a rival right now. With that said I hope SC beats Jawja.

Sometimes, I think I would trade our two recent titles for SOS to have never left. My guess is he would have gotten them anyway. Would I take the risk? Not sure.. There was a time until recently, that I would have never said that...but as I see him getting near the end...I assume...I wish he had just stayed here.

No disrespect to our current staff. They could be here 30 years. Its just that Steve made everyone hate us, and I liked that.

He left - and should have been able to come back if he wanted when the job was open.

Will always be a huge miss as far as I'm concerned. (if you want to say both UF and SOS share blame, I'm fine with that too)

Urban did a nice job - but I still would have loved Spurrier back instead.

Spurrier is a freaking trip! I hate that he's been at SC almost as long as he was at UF....

Well let's see.....he let Butch Davis wipe the floor with us in recruiting even though they were on probation and then he bailed late in the day without warning such that we were left scrambling with all the top coaching prospects for that year already gone.

That's how I can not miss him. We've moved on...and we've won 2 national championships since he left.

What part of twice as many national titles in half the time Spurrier coached here do you not understand?

There is no reason to think he would have won those titles anyway since he didn't win them when he was at UF for twice as long. Tim Tebow never would have come to UF. That would have meant no Brandon Spikes also. Very unlikely Percy Harvin would have come either. All those star players who won us those national titles would not have been Gators. It is not a forgone conclusion that they would have come to UF.

I don't understand this concept. In every paid-for-results job, there is no obligation on either side. This isn't indentured servitude or slavery or anything of that nature. You are free to come and go. Employers are free to hire and fire. You ask for whatever compensation you think you deserve. The employer pays you whatever compensation they think you deserve. If the results exceed, you ask for a raise. If the results are below, you get fired or get a pay cut.

Spurrier did well while he was at UF but UF has no obligation to give him a highly paid job a second time. Spurrier worked, succeeded, got paid. The perfect situation. End of deal. Then a situation arises where it could happen again. Foley, like all good businessmen, said "Who can make me the most money today?" Meyer was the answer and it isn't debatable. UF made a killing while Meyer was here and it was a spectacular hire. I fail to see how Spurrier deserved anything other than a chance to win a high paying job that he had previously held. His ego (which I love by the way) and a superior candidate kept him from possibly getting that job a second time.

This stuff isn't personal. It is all about money and Foley made the economic choice and it was the correct one in almost everyone's opinion.

I wish he were young enough to do a stint as AD here after Foley retires to wrap up his career like Darth Vincent did at UGA. He could take pissing off other schools to a whole new level while maybe doing some things to blow the stale air out of our OOC schedule as he alluded to here and there during his time coaching here.

I don't miss him. He left us high and Dry and that hurts. I also don't think we would of had two more Titles with him here i have serious doubts Tebow/Spikes/Percey would of come here with Spurrier here.

Urban was asked the other day how he felt that other coaches didn't like him. He said he didn't know that was true.

Spurrier would have said, "If they were beating me they would like me."
