obamas war on coal shutting down coal fired elec plants will cost us 500,000 jobs. Coal fired plants produce 37% of our electricity. It will raise the cost of electricity by 20%. Well you liberals drank the kool aid now it will cost you also.

"So much for the denials. An administration that denied it was waging a War on Coal has now come out and publicly declared its intention to shut down coal-fired power plants - putting hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work and sending electricity prices skyrocketing.

Obama claims he can do it all with no say from our elected representatives in Congress, but his designated point person for the effort, Gina McCarthy, awaits Senate confirmation. Given what we know now, a vote for McCarthy can only be understood as a vote for Obama's very expensive and destructive agenda.

Frankly, Obama doesn't give a damn if these people lose their jobs. He doesn't have to run for reelection. And it is part of the plan.

"obamas war on coal shutting down coal fired elec plants will cost us 500,000 jobs"

So what's the big deal---causing 500,000 folks to be unemployed is great for the economy. Remember--all those unemployment benefits stimulate the economy faster than any other initiative:

There may be another reason why coal-fired power plants are shutting down
    link

Should we continue to burn coal when cleaner natural gas is becoming more economical?

A picture being worth a thousand words

Who cares what Canada does... We have 200 years of cheap domestic coal in the U.S.A., and we need to burn it here, not in China, Russia, India, or Brazil... because that's what will happen to it if we don't use it here.

Obama is not for the environment as much as he's for killing 500,000 viable jobs that constantly vote Republican. This is pure hate mongering and political BS!

We need to use our NG for transportation vehicles, buses, semi-truck and trains, and leave the coal for power plant generation. Because it wont work the using coal for transportation vehicles. But to just stop coal usage is short sighted, expensive and unnecessary.

Dad, you hit on the main reason Obama and his liberal base doesn't give a chit. Either they are elites who could care if their electric bill is $200 month or $2000 month (AlGore). Or they plan on having their neighbors pay with guvmint subsidized rates.

And Rick's argument re automobiles....the regime long term goal is to have all of us ride bikes built for two with pubs pedaling and demos loafing.

Isn't saving coal for later simply an investment? It can only go up in value. (Please don't call me a liberal). I think stretching out our resources makes sense... financially. People aren't freezing to death because they don't have access to fuel.

Unfortunately, many Americans are clueless re rates/causation etc because they do not read, but rather get their 15 sec sound bites on TV or Internet snippets. So you will not see much protest over the coal issue, until plants are closed and utility bills sky rocket and Obama will be long gone, giving speeches to Muslim and African groups who think he's the boy genius.

Now if the case were made on American Idol, the Voice, Housewives and Jersey Shore...at least a few more would realize Obama ain't out for their interests.

I can't speak to that particular report, but the Heritage Foundation has a long history of inaccurate reports like this one.

    Healthcare and jobs
