why is it that foreign press can know this stuff and our media seems to have no clue?

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/08/06/us-usa-healthcare-security-idUSBRE9750YH20130806

    From the article:

(Reuters) - The federal government is months behind in testing data security for the main pillar of Obamacare: allowing Americans to buy health insurance on state exchanges due to open by October 1

The missed deadlines have pushed the government's decision on whether information technology security is up to snuff to exactly one day before that crucial date, the Department of Health and Human Services' inspector general said in a report.

As a result, experts say, the exchanges might open with security flaws or, possibly but less likely, be delayed.

"They've removed their margin for error," said Deven McGraw, director of the health privacy project at the non-profit Center for Democracy & Technology. "There is huge pressure to get (the exchanges) up and running on time, but if there is a security incident they are done. It would be a complete disaster from a PR viewpoint."

The most likely serious security breach would be identity theft, in which a hacker steals the social security numbers and other information people provide when signing up for insurance.

It's as bad as pretty much every other system. It's ridiculous that doctor's offices require you to give your social security number, store financials, and then outsource the work overseas to India, etc, for the billing/transcription work. (not all practices, but a lot of hospitals/practices do) If we're all providing our insurance info/ID# why would they need the SS# too?

This is the inherent danger of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Before all of that if it was asked for was kept in a paper file that could only be accessed if you were an employee with access to the office, records room, etc. Now anyone with a computer can access anything at any time if they have the right tools.

The whole system is bu$h!t and should be completely scrapped. Start over, but keep a few things from this law... like people with current medical conditions should be able to get some sort of coverage.

Does anyone REALLY think Obamus Maximus actually gave a chit whether or not Husseintaxcare would be...safe...efficient...productive...or anything positive for that matter???

His ONLY concern was getting the tax passed and etching his place in The Socialist History Annals as the dude who forced HIS agenda of what he thought health care should be. Effectiveness be damned. He doesn't care--never did--never gave that aspect any thought whatsoever.

F*** that bastard for all he has inflicted on the country.
