O h well just what we need another war. Looks like we will never learn For the likes of me cannot see where it is in our best interest.

"President Obama signaled Friday that the U.S. could act alone to punish Syria for a chemical weapons attack last week, saying the nation has an "obligation as a leader in the world" to hold rogue regimes to account for breaching the rules of war.

Facing rising skepticism in Congress and abroad, the president and top Cabinet officials tried to make a robust case for intervention on Friday -- releasing an intelligence report showing "high confidence" the Assad regime carried out the strike and arguing that responding would be in the U.S. interest.

"This kind of attack is a challenge to the world," Obama said, adding: "A lot of people think something should be done, but nobody wants to do it."

Well, he's right. I saw the video of the burned kids. That makes anyone with a pulse want to do something, now. But what? Who did the burning? Are we sure it's who we think it was? Who takes over after the carpet bombing? The YouTube head choppers? I guess chopping heads off one at a time is less loathsome than taking out dozens at a time with chemicals. Or is it?

I've no appetite for yet another military campaign. But I'd like to see less (no) slowly burning kids.

But war is good for business. I suspect that'll carry the day.

Not that confusing, even an idea that you yourself thought of must be rejected if Obama also proposes it. First rule of posting on TooHot.

I kind of wish Obama would propose tax cuts just so I could see what right-wing TooHot denizen would start the first "Damn Obama, cutting taxes, doesn't he know we're in a deficit and can't afford this!!" thread.

So when are we going to bomb Darfur? When is that war starting, since all those innocent people have been murdered?

Where is the outrage of all the innocent killings in Africa?

And BTW, to me it doesn't make sense to bomb kill innocents, when innocents are killed.

But good gawd, Obama has to save face!

But he has to do something, because one team says so. Just not whatever he does. Because that'll simply be unacceptable, whatever it is, including doing nothing.

It's interesting to see conservatives who said Sadaam's use of chemical weapons was justification for invading Iraq and staying there for 7 or 8 years now oppose intervention in Syria.

In either case, I'm against intervention unless it's a UN operation.

Obama has cut taxes multiple times. Pubs opposed them at every turn.

To me is more interesting to see pacifists defend this idiocy. Kerry lmao, he is arguing for war.

I was ok with Afghanistan. I was not happy when we went to Irak, and I'm horrified that they are doing this. I was against ousting Kadafi. Why can't we just ignore these animals, who have very little values in common with us? They are looking for excuses to keep hating/hurting us.

Are liberals ever capable of learning from mistakes?

Tax credits =/= tax rate cuts, at all, not the same beast. But that is neither here nor there.

Obama has managed to do pretty much everything wrong at this point, enough so that Robert Duvall is probably in his headset telling him to hit the pace car.

He thoughtlessly committed his and this country's reputation to a line in the sand about chemical weapon use, clearly not in a "words have meaning, choices and actions matter and have consequences" frame of mind.

Then when it starts getting crossed, he vascillates, already singing his credibility.

Then, feeling pressure, he decides he wants to blow some stuff up, despite having no particular operational objective and despite almost guaranteeing it will be a meaningless gesture by saying it will be just a brief strike and even what the targets are likely to be.

Then, he utterly fails to obtain even mild coalition support, surprisingly, for a campaign that would mostly serve to give Obama good press.

He literally has no way through this without showing his ass at this point. It is frustrating and embarrassing to watch. Despite Obama being the leader most carrying the torch her amongst the world executives, his ambassador is the one who cba to show up at an emergency meeting of the Security Council... ugh. Theatre of the absurd.

Me, me, me. Think of others for a change. Try looking at things from the perspective of those who will get filthy rich off of it. They will unselfishly pocket their millions in anonymity and let someone else's kids get all the glory and death and mangled arms and legs and guilt and PTSD.

Lets' just say I'm tired. Another President taking us to war. It's almost like it's ingrained in our culture. Democrats...war...Republicans war...always war. Is there a pattern here? I don't know but it's time to look in the mirror...

Obama will find a mouthwash factory, warn the workers to leave, send in a cruise missile, give CNN/Wolf Blitzer and MSNBC/Chrissy Mathew co exclusives to the video and it will "magically" become a chemical weapons plant as Obama wins Nobel #2 and shows the world he is a MAN. And Chris will have a wet dream.
