Unfortunately, these idiots represent the 47% Romney mentioned who ended up being 51.5% and reelected the head Idiot POTUS. Wonder if you asked them what they thought of Vice President Palin, Obama's right hand man, what the answer would be?

I doesn't matter if they represent 99% of the people... unless the state governors the house and the Senate along with the Kenyan all sign it as an Amendment to the Constitution it's a bunch of worthless paper.

There are ignorant idiots on both ends of the political spectrum.

Plank (or anyone), what is your opinion on Bryan Fischer's belief that the 1st Amendment regarding the establishment of religion applies only to Christians?

I don't agree. I get what he is trying to say, but I'd probably attack the problem that he is attempting to address more from the freedom of religion side of things. If the prophet of a religion teaches people to kill the Jews, then people should not have absolute freedom to practice that religion because practicing such a religion involves killing other people.

Did they forget about all the other portions of the 1st amendment? Probably. The 1st Amendment underpins the entire right to assemble and to disagree with the government in control.

This is epic in the annals of stupidity, no matter how you vote.

The difference, and an important one, is between the two sides there is only one whose ideological bent is that the government has inherent right and power to realize their goals for them. To wit, that article doesn't indicate anybody is beseeching the President to do something about it as though he actually could.

You average dyed in the wool, religious conservative, traditional marriage, pro-life, school prayer, etc, dude, is also typically going to think of his goals as things you elect legislatures to achieve, that the people's representatives, speaking for them, will do it. They aren't likely to look for autocrats or oligarchs, one in an office or nine in robes, to impose their will for them.

There are two problems with the people who would like this petition. The obvious is the antipathy to individualism and liberty it takes to not like the 1st Amendment. But, more subtle, they also are obviously the sort of people who think that a President, if they could only but convince him, could fix that problem for them.

So you think if the public were presented a similar petition to repeal the 1st Amendment with the verbally stated intent to deny Muslims (or Jews, or Buddhists, or Hindus, etc.) the right to freely practice their religion, reserving that right exclusively for Christians, there would not be even a few who would eagerly sign?

You might... but then, you would *have* to present it to them, i.e. make it for them, because they manifestly have never done so on their own, which goes right to my point. Now, maybe they might have, but just want to petition Obama; I can't recall a former President so eager to solicit petitions from the people as though her were a king holding cyber-court. But, they haven't actually ever done it.

The entire episode in the OP was staged with an apparent intent to capture on video ignorant Obama supporters foolish enough to fall for the trickery. I don't see Fischer doing this and frankly, I don't think any rational left winger would do it either. It was nothing more than mockery.
