Okay so a continent that is still in the stone age , needs it power upgraded ? Don't you need a functioning power grid to qualify for an upgrade ?

$7 billion dollars to Africa . That would go a long way in securing our border .

We are suffering under Obama's sequester nonsense ($85 billion cut from the Federal Budget), yet he has the stupidity to pledge $7 billion to upgrade power in Africa .

He'll just write another check on our Bank of China credit line where the APR isn't measured by percentages, but by our children's futures.

No doubt it will be solar and wind powered. Tell you what, lets ship Obama there permanently. His hot air good for a few daily kilowatts.

So we either borrow the 7 billion and send it to Africa (Barry's Homeland) or we simply print 7 billion continuing the devaluation of our currency. Sounds like business as usual.

Forget the White House tours....look at EVERYTHING that needs this - education, veterans, roads, bringing physical education back to schools, building hospitals in rural areas, military (soldier pay), airports/air traffic control, etc....

Right now this country can't afford to spend money on the ink it'll take to print out that $7 billion dollars, let alone actually send them that $7 billion dollars.

No need to worry, tomorrow it will be something else and the 7 billion will be forgotten.
Remember Gitmo being the first thing he would do?
However, there may be a few more political donors in green energy that might need 7 billion.

He keeps forgetting he is half white and half European. Africa is not his true homeland, only half of it.

Yep, and that money is not going to help one single "shovel ready" job in Africa. It's going to Obama's favorite political cause just like the stimulus money he stole from the American tax-payers here.

I am so happy many hard working people I work with on a daily basis are losing so much of their salary because of furloughs yet we will give Africa $7 billion. :(.

$5 billion of the $7 billion is from the export import bank, which is self sustaining and has earned billions in recent years for the taxpayer.
Another 1.5 billion is coming from OPIC, which is also not only self sustaining, but returned nearly a $300 million dollar profit last year.

    But carry on.

Yes. The money is lent to us companies to finance projects there. US companies make money, the government makes money, Africa gets electricity, a modern economy we can sell to and we get goodwill for the effort.
