We do not have the money for WH Tours and cutting back military spending but obama can give our money to his Muslim buddies to have a holiday on

"It’s the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan. President Obama has decided to give $195M of taxpayer money to the Islamic nation of Syria to mark the occasion.

In an official White House release, President Obama said: “Michelle and I send our warmest greetings to Muslims celebrating Eid al-Fitr here in the United States and around the world. During the past month, Muslims have honored their faith through prayer and service, fasting and time spent with loved ones.”

We sent food aid to refugees in a country that is currently a humanitarian disaster and this means we gave a $195,000,000 Eid gift to the "Muslim nation of Syria"?

I hope you can at least see why people treat these kinds of blogs as the jokes that they are.

Do we have any starving people in this country that could use the gifts then we could cut back on food stamps and other aid. Our people should come first then if we have any thing left we can give that away

I don't know that I would share the extreme "this is a holiday gift" argument on this; HOWEVER, the United States is in ZERO position to give any money away right now. Forgetting the White House tours - look at the cuts to Veteran benefits, employees on furlough, the budget crisis in general....

It's kind of like on an airplane when you're told as a parent to put your mask on quickly FIRST because otherwise you might be incapacitated and not able to truly help your child. The US cannot and SHOULD NOT be sending aid to anyone right now...of any kind...until we get our own affairs in order.

Yeah I'm not saying the sentiment is necessarily wrong, the way this story tries to portray it is absurd though.

We send food aid to refugees, and that gets described as an "Eid gift to the Muslim nation of Syria"? Give me a break.

    Agree with this.

The story linked in the OP is silly partisan propaganda.

But the idea that we're writing huge checks when we can't take care of our own business is ridiculous.

You are not taking care of your own business when you borrow more and more and more to pay for your business

    That is what is ridiculous

Good grief, that one of the stupidest and most morally repulsive posts I've read on Too Hot.

You don't have to read anything other than the title of OP's post to know it was partisan propaganda. $195 million for a holiday? Are the shooting up gold plated fireworks packed with diamonds and rhino horn powder?

Some of the right-wingers on this board are so far to the right, that they'd have to have a week long ménage à trois with Rachel Maddow and Alec Baldwin to even be considered part of the right wing fringe.

Holiday gift or not, we don't have the money to help out all of Obamas muslim friends. It's funny, he does more for them than he does for the US.

Obama is a disgrace to our country and the worst president we have ever had. After Bush all he had to do was show up to work and he would have been an upgrade... Complete disaster, can't wait until this nightmare is over.

GDE says, "give a Muslim some goat cheese and they can eat for a day. Give a muslim a goat, and they will still eat for a day."

Don't care what or how much we give, these people will still hate us so why bother?

You bring up a good point. How about using that money to help orphanages, battered women shelters, soup kitchens, etc etc?

Who cares. We get our money from China, so as long as they have plenty we are ok.
