Article does a poor job of connecting the dots as to why the tax credits themselves are relevant, that fact is just kind of thrown in at the end.

The tax credits are from carrying forward the net operating loss Solyndra realized into a restructured holding company under the bankruptcy plan. What that has to do with the loan restructuring isn't really obvious from the article, which never tries to explain that at all. The closest I can come up with is that the loan restructuring kept Solyndra open longer, and presumably additional net operating losses were realized in those additional months Solyndra was open.

The justification for the loan restructuring certainly is questionable to say the least, but aside from "big number, get mad conservative wolf pack!" the article doesn't even attempt to explain how carry-forward net operating losses are relevant to that point.

And of note, IRS challenged the bankruptcy plan of reorganization by asserting that it was not a legitimate bankruptcy and was being undertaken for the primary purpose of tax avoidance.

If the Obama administration's goal was to hand tax credits to a donor, why exactly would it have the IRS assert in court filings that the bankruptcy plan was a scheme to create tax credits and try to stop it?

When I saw it was from Fox News I naturally begin to question it.

tommike - You may want to pay attention to Fox if you want to know what is really going on instead of those BS liberal sources.

Sort of a tertiary comment, thought that was evident.

Left handed is not hyphenated, but I presume you were being a smarty-pants.

This was actually a reference to another comment ... but yes, it actually is hyphenated in most style books.

Always? No. Here? Yes it is.
