Frankly, this is a dumb idea based in nothing more than petty vengeance. Nothing else differentiates one who renounces citizenship from a tourist or other foreigner. Both pay sales, hotel, fuel, air, property, and other taxes.

Most giving up are plenty rich and reside in another nation anyways. Why would they want to pay higher taxes?

Call it what you like, but if you voluntarily renounce your citizenship for your own petty reasons (e.g. greed), I see nothing wrong with the USA turning its back on you and telling you that we're done with you as well.

Don't kill the messenger. Just thought of this commercial as soon as I read the thread. Interesting from an advertising standpoint. Also kinda shady and exploitative. Then again, it is advertising. ;)

If you inferred that I was one of those people's leaving you're mistaken, but It is funny that people would renounce their citizenship... I'll even bet that many of these people's leaving we're naturalized citizens to begin with.

Funny how 'love it or leave it' has taken a turn, hasn't it?

They aren't leaving because they don't want it, they are leaving because "it" is vanishing out from underneath them. The "it" an American love is not found in expansive federal government bloat and hyperregulation and usurious taxation on both individuals and business. It isn't present in having turned food assistance or pretense disability into valid lifestyles at the expense of one's neighbors. If America stops being America, there's no "it" to love and stay for. I'm sure it's much like how the Taiwanese feel about China.

Most of the wealthy are going to Asia.
Jobs and money are leaving with them.

The Taiwanese lost the war, just like Jefferson Davis et al.

The winners get to make the rules. If those who are leaving are doing so because they feel like America is no longer "their America," then by means, they should vote with the feet and get the f*ck out.

Do you have a link that supports your silly statement?

I know a good number of people who would be considered wealthy and not a one of them has moved to Asia, but perhaps all of those people are the exception, so please, show me the data on all of those thousands of wealthy people moving to Asia.

    Bated breath...
