Thank God we all get to expatriate sooner or later. The bastards can't keep us alive forever.

I would ask why they are doing it rather than how many are doing it? If the reasons are legit then bless em as Pelosi would say.

Why? They don't want to live elsewhere and still have to pay taxes in the US as all US Citizens are required to do if the country they are living in doesn't have a tax treaty or if they make more than the exemption, which is around $85k.

It is almost as if... tax rates affect economic behavior.

So, Obama is tearing America apart and that's all you have to say about this?

If there was a nation that had the weather and language that I could live with I'd "c ya' too. Leave all the people that have no education and no desire to do for themselves, with the added fact that Obama will turn The U.S.A. into Mexico norte.

One of my friends will actually be part of that statistic next year. He was a retired military pilot who bought a farm in WV and was doing decently (at least on the surface).

Sold the farm a few months ago, and packed up and moved his family to Mexico just last week. Says eventually they will settle in Belize. It's not for me to judge him since he can do whatever he wants and whatever he and his wife think is best for their family. But in our many talks, I can say that his reasoning to me is suspect (but I don't know if he is actually telling me the full story, either and have reason to suspect that he isn't).

Obama isn't the only reason people are leaving the U.S., I'm sure there are many factors bedsides Obama's socialist agendas.

Probably a bunch are sick and tired of the religious right-wingers trying to turn our country into another theocracy.

Well, they'd be in a pretty rude awakening when they realized they left one of the least "theocratic" countries in the world to escape the lol"threat" of theocracy.

Whereas, on the other hand, people leaving behind their citizen to escape oppressive taxation, oppressive regulatory micromanagement of their lives, to protect their right to what they've earned and what they own... they don't have a lot of places to go, but at least they have a coherent purpose. And, really, people that leave for those reasons are taking more America with them than they are leaving behind. This is a proposition nation, it's built on ideals, not geography. It will exist wherever people that value those ideals are found.

1100 is about one in every 300k people.

But the number will continue to rise over time as the world gets smaller and smaller, and more countries gain economically and inter connectivity grows. Culture becomes less and less unique.
