I say go for it, Dems. Simple majority. Let's do it like that from now on.

    Dare you.

The Dems will cheat in every which way they can to steal a vote or to get an appointee nominated. If the system blocks them legally they tray and change the system to ram through their enslavement agenda proponent.

We agree. Let's do it. The president should be able to nominate officers in his administration without a super majority. Who disagree s with that?

Not me. And I won't change my mind in about 2 1/2 years, either. But I bet you will. :bored:

No, I won't change my mind when Hillary's elected but even if you guys win the v presidency again - after going 1 for 6 in the popular vote - I'll still support not requiring super majority's for confirming executive branch appointments.

Now, what's your excuse for favoring that ridiculous idea?

Look at the scoreboard. Since the republicans lost the Senate in 2006 frequency of holds and filibusters have double and triple previous years. The losers are trying to run the country.

Have to admit, the 60 vote requirement is hardly democratic.

No more so than imposing the "Hastert Rule" in the house. Both sides are dysfunctional regardless of the majority party. It's nauseating to watch our elected officials try to not govern this country.

^^ Another one who was no doubt singing a different tune (just like Dirty Harry was) when the shoe was on the other foot, and will go right back to singing that old tune again the next time a Republican's in office with a slim GOP majority.

If Reid is not a dead man walking I don't know what is. You liberals would be going nuts if the pubs did this.

Nope. 60 votes for everything is ludicrous. And it's the pubs obstructionism that forced this.

Nah. I doubt we'll have a repub president any time soon, but if we do, so be it. The repubs have made obstruction to almost everything the new standard. The dems will now do the same thing if the roles are reversed. If the filibuster were being used as it historically has been, with just a bit of discretion, then none of this would be necessary.
