Every off season many seem to push for Florida to play a more difficult schedule.

If we did not have Miami but instead a directional school, we would be 5-5 and a win this weekend would have us in a bowl.

I realize that it might not be a great bowl but it would be a bowl and no losing record.

If Florida plays a harder schedule a worse record is likely!

Our schedule is always difficult. The only ones complaining are the haters of the SEC. The schedule wasn't the issue this year.

Works for other schools, but I don't like it. We expect our SOS to help us at the end of the year in the NC race. It did last year. Simply put, ND loses to USC, we are in. That is the better way to go. Ask Auburn. Or tOSU. If we played a cupcake and made a bowl, it would help nothing for the future long term of UF football, in my humble opinion.

Our current predicament is the fault of our coaching staff, not our schedule.

Next year's schedule is ridiculous too. Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, Alabama, FSU, Missouri.......we may miss a bowl again next year if we equally bad luck with injuries. Playing Miami is stupid on almost every level imaginable.

An easy schedule (see FSU) is the old way to become one of the two anointed teams playing in the BCSC game. A tough schedule gets you considered for bigger things, including getting into the game with 2 loses (see LSU). If we substituted a scrub team for Miami we would keep our bowl string alive but nothing else. And we would still be losing a bunch of money from poor attendance to the game.

I prefer to get things back to the way it used to be: a bowl game is a celebration of a good season and not just something akin to the NIT or even the CBI.

I absolutely reject the OP's premise! I fundamentally refuse to give the obnoxious Ummmmm fans any satisfaction at laying claim to be the cause for our missing out on a bowl.

If we can't win 6 games, with any schedule, we don't deserve any bowls.

And as one who would like to see Florida play some other premier out of conference games, I just want to clarify one point: This is not because I want Florida to play a tougher schedule. Their SOS is already excellent. I want other games because it would be fun.

Why, that's the solution to our problem....weaker opponents!!

Only Duke, FSU and Wake Forest can give Miami a run for their money.

I think they should make it 7 wins to become bowl eligible

Agreed. I too blame the coaches for injuries.

So if we had an opponent with a pulse rather than our full assortment of patsies in 2011 then would this be our second year out of 3 with no bowl game??

Imagine if the 2008 team had played Miami. No way they win the title that year. :)

We need more bowl games, everybody should be eligible for these exhibition games. The rewards can vary, and the last two teams can each get a dollar and some envelopes.

    Go GATORS!
