I didn't think it was a big deal, it just seems odd that he hopes God will protect him(and even by simply thanking him it's implicit) no matter how crazy the decisions he makes appear to be. At some point it's not about God but his life decisions, just as it was for his great grandfather and a number of other family members sadly. Having all of the tragedy in the family isn't God's fault either, it's gravity and the need to challenge it. Challenge death enough times and you will lose.
    An amazing feat regardless.

    I totally get your drift.

It is one thing to take: a) reckless chances, another thing to take: b) calculated chances, and another thing to: c) apparently earn a living doing daredevilish type things that may be both a) & b).

I dunno how folks do the things he does, and call it a job.

I don't know if they think of it as a job. Sure, they may do it to pay the bills, but I doubt they look at it as a job. BobK's post (#8, I think) has this quote that seems to sum up the Wallendas' outlook:

Do what you love and you'll never work another day in your life.

that wasn't scary, you want to see scary come by my place during school season. I have 3 primary schools (1 private, elementary and middle) all within a half mile radius. Try driving when you have crazy school moms dropping off kids. All driving supersized SUV's while talking on the phone, the dog and kids barking and screaming while mom is rushing to get to morning yoga or nail appts with "the BFF" It gets crazy and becomes a free for all of heavy metal trying to get in and out of traffic. They are all jockeying for the coveted 1st in the drop off/pick up line.:dead::grin::dead:

with summer here its like living in a nature preserve.
