I wasn't at the game today, but on TV it sounded like a different PA announcer. Is it someone new or was this the case for a while and just noticed it?

Pretty sure it's the same guy. They changed a few years ago. Previous guy (I should remember his name) retires after several years.

From TV it sounded like the same guy.

This dazzling post was sent via my Samsung Galaxy Tablet using jet packs custom built for Gator Country.

Jack O'brien from 1010XL in Jax. Had just gotten canned as the Jags PA guy when the UF guy died and he backed into the job. He still can't time "Here Come The Gators" right. I used to know the previous guys name, but it slips my mind. Jim something? They should have honored him in some way, but never did. I don't even remember it being acknowledged at a game.

Jim Finch is the previous guy. Was the PA announcer from something like 1965 or 66 to 2001. O'brien couldn't carry Finch's jock. That's why UF plays Finch's recorded "Heeeeeeeeeeeere come the Gators" when our players come out of the tunnel.

Thanks. Not sure why he sounded new to me on TV.

Someone needs to tell him that a touchback is now taken out to the 25. He announced the ball to the 20 and then after a six yard run announced an 11 yard run. It was pretty comical.

O'Brien isnt the one saying: "Heeeeeeerrrrrreeeeeeee Come The Gators."
I'ts a recording of Jim Finch that you hear. That is how they honor him. He STILL welcomes the Gators out of the tunnel every single home Saturday, though he passed 12 years ago.

I believe they let O'Brien try it initially and later went to the recorded version. I could be wrong, it's sometimes hard to hear when you're actually at the game. I'll ask him the next time I run into him.

They've got to turn the volume down on that thing, it seemed louder this year.
I also heard some references to folks not liking "that's another" in front of our first down references as that's what they do in Tallahassee. I've never paid attention to that before, is that a new addition?

    Go GATORS!
