If you cut muschamp loose after this yr, after all that happened with the way he was given the program, along with the injuries this yr, after having a winning record last yr, you wouldn't get a decent head coach to even consider this position. I think our arrogance is almost comical when it comes to coaches just up and leaving where they are to come and coach this hornets nest.

Strong is a huge risk imo. He plays in a weak conference, went 7-6 his first 2 seasons, and now has the luxury of having the number 1 pick in the draft at QB yet his still failed to go undefeated and recently just lost to UCF giving up 35 points to them. I'm not all that impressed with him. I think once Teddy leaves his offense will suck once again and he will end up with 3-6 losses.

Exactly. He's a lateral move and another DC type HC. We could do so much better

Meyer came here after we fired Zook after 2.5 seasons.

    Stoops? Wtf?
Mullen? Is he bringing Tebow? Take a coach who is floundering?
Petrino? I would rather go 0-12 than hire that DB

Either keep champ 1 more year and hire Kelly or go after Franklin now?

Franklin would be a home run hire

I can see that and I think we will, but strong has shown to have a useful offense and defense which I think is a plus. However, if we could get Petersen or Kingsburry we would be fine as long as we have a competent defense.

Meyer was at Utah . Briles is 60 at Baylor never left the state. He also has better offensive talent at his current school and moving into a new stadium. If you think he is leaving for UF well....

Agreed, Briles should not be at the top of the list. I still think Muschamp can work if he completely lets a new o coord control the offensive philosophy.

young will appears to be in over his head at this level--he needs some more seasoning before taking a high profile job in a top conference

One guy that I think would be a great coach but is currently stuck at a place with little talent and resources is Pat Fitzgerald. No one thinks he'll leave his alma mater but I'd at least ask.

Briles may seek the Texas job which is why he might not come here, but if you think the firing a coach after 3 seasons makes any difference that's not true. It is standard to fire coaches after 3 seasons. We have the best talent pool here, a program with high prestige and funding, the ability to pay our staff and coaches high money so if you can't win a sec east title in 3 seasons and have a Ron Zook type record after 3 years that is valid reason to get fired.

Oh it is just not that, a coach is also going to think they just fired a guy who went to a bcs bowl the year prior and then was decimated by injuries in his 3rd year. You can say it is a valid reason to get fired and I wont argue that but you also have to look at it from another coach perspective. Why leave something stable for something that clearly isnt, unless it is a huge step up and they dont care about the ties to the school they are at

    Awful list.

Kingsbury or Franklin would do well here.
