I wonder if a U.S. citizen went to a foreign country (either legally or illegally) and committed some sort of heinous sexual crime, if we would ever simply refuse to let the U.S. citizen back into our country after they serve time over there.

Problem is budget cuts plus the fact that ICE doesn't have the authority to permanently detain anyone. The problem here is countries refusing to accept its own citizens back. From the original Washington Times story, it can take up to a year or more for some countries to accept repatriated people. And our current law limits how long ICE can hold someone for solely being in this country illegally.

It certainly is a problem juggling budget issues, immigration issues, and public safety issues. I think the state department should act and stop issuing visas to people from countries that are refusing to take their citizens back. Problem with that, is places like Florida and Nevada, often the benefit of international visitors, don't want this to happen because it effects tourist money. Both Orlando/Disney and Vegas don't want to see the number of international visitors go down because they often spend a lot when they come.

This just represents another problem with our current immigration system that needs to be changed.

That's no problem. Just fly over and drop them out. With or without a chute. Either way they get them back.

Florida certainly has its share of unregistered sex offenders. Many of them are given bus tickets to Florida by New York City in lieu of jail time.

Please point out exactly where I said spending more money is the one and only solution. Your quote is completely fabricated and I do not enjoy people putting words in my mouth. Budget cuts are the problem. That's established. The answer? Much more complex.

Awesome. And if they still don't get the idea, we can send them some of our US-born criminals.

    Go GATORS!

It is not complicated. If the claim that they were released due to budget cuts, then it was all about money.
