Anyone else notice how often Rece Davis refers to the "Crimson Tides" during the studio updates in this game?

Yep, which I think is hilarious because I know it pisses off the Tides faithful.

Anyone have tips for playing defense on Heisman level? After blowing a 17-point second half lead to North Texas to start the season, following a year where it felt like a major accomplishment to hold the other team below 300 yards passing, I've made some pretty dramatic changes in the sliders. But I'd still like to hear ideas.

Fwiw, the only team that won't be in next years game, is ohio state.

There will be some conferences missing. However the SEC will not be missing next year.

I'm no lawyer and all of that is subject to change, and the info is in no way endorsed by anyone. (It is what we know currently though)

I play on Heisman (both sides), I just shut UK out and held them to 88 yards passing.

    What I do;

Control either safety or lb depending on coverage.

Mix coverages a lot. I don't know if it really matters, but it my perspective that the computer will start to pick you apart if you play the same defense.

pinch the lines slant, not the line itself. For whatever reason, I get great pass rush doing that.

Pre snap I play the pass almost always. I'm willing to concede the run, as I'm linebacker 70% of the time and can do a good job stopping it manually (Not suggesting this against human players), this will help prevent you getting burned on playaction.

I take control of players as soon as the ball is thrown if I can see who it's going to.
Sometimes the computer won't actually play the ball, but instead the receiver, sometimes they'll play the ball, I'm not willing to take the chance that they'll let the ball fly right pass their head, so I switch to the player closest to where the ball is going and use the ballhawk button (Triangle on PS3, Y on Xbox) All you have to do with that is hold it, you don't have to time it. If you don't think you can make a play on the ball, you can press L1 and swat at it instead, usually giving you greater range.

These are tips for playing scrupulously. There are nano blitz' out there, but those make the game pointless and take little skill outside of being able to set them up quickly.

When you say "pinch the lines slant," what do you mean, exactly? And how do I do that?

    (Thanks, by the way)

When you pinch (r2 on ps3?), you can pinch the line physically or their gap. Left trigger moves the line, right trigger moves the gap attack, at least on ps3.

I basically cheesed this way back on NCAA 08, I believe. I'll take a Nickel or 4-3, take one of the DEs off the line, pinch the line in and aim at the strong side and turn the DE into a weak side LB. It basically ruined the game for me because I had my DE in the backfield if I decided to rush him or otherwise have him trail a TE or H-Back or someone slower and shut down the pass.

They fixed part of this - if you rush your new "LB" hey'll have a hard time getting penetration, but the coverage thing still works and this has negligible impact on run protection.

And I've officially become a giant wuss and reverted the defensive difficulty to All-American. Screw my 0-3 record.

To clarify, it's actually the left and right stick.

After you select defensive line audibles, down on the right stick causes your line to "crash in", and down on the left stick physically pinches the line pre-snap. I may have them backwards, but It's either one way or the other.

I believe it's L1 (for ps3) to initiate defensive line adjustments.

It's funny how I can do all this stuff very fluidly in the game, but I struggle to tell people how to do it lol.

Yeah, no kidding, I used "trigger" when I clearly meant (and knew) stick. Oh well.

Probably won't buy consoles anymore. Really the only reason i had one for the last 10 years was because this series was console exclusive.
